Good deal, glad someone got them that can use them. Ya, I love it out there, and it is a lot more crowded there than it was 10 years ago. I want to get get moved back down on the river, sure miss it...

what is black salve? might help one of my poor hens who has a naked neck, not willingly...
Black Salve can be found at feedstores and western goods stores. basically it's a black salve with Ichthammol in it...
One brand is "Prid Salve" smells like Vick's Vap O Rub
In a pinch mix black ashes in with a little vaseline
Don't use anything with black tar in it...not supposed to be used on animals intended as food.
I'll have to find my recipe for it...now where did I put that.....
ahhh....ichthammol- i use that as a drawing salve- would it mess her up to put it on her neck? betcha it tastes bad.... dave calls it axel grease- works great on splinters
I got some white leghorn pullets from Florida last month. It looks like three of them are cockerels. I am not interested in breeding them with their sisters. Instead I would like a trade for another white leghorn rooster with someone close to Comanche County (90 min drive or less from Lawton). Anyone around here have a good leghorn rooster to trade?
I need a leghorn rooster with the following traits:
White (no brown or red leghorns)
Single Comb
18-months-old (give or take 6 months)
Healthy (diseases free, not a carrier)
Prolific/Proven (breeds well)
Head-of-house (will protect and lead his hens)
Good Quality
Not from Florida
I would prefer to trade three cockerels for the one rooster but I would also be willing to buy him at a fair price.
If you have what I am looking for just PM me and we will talk.
Just got in from planting, didn't even get close to what I needed to get done, and am exhausted, tomorrow is going to be a looooooooooooooooong planting day, but at least I'll face it w/ more then 3 hrs sleep.
Raining cats & dogs here with hail mixed in! I was not expecting rain! Guess I should pay better attention.
Got alot done today. Two of the three cochins washed. I left them in the sun to dry & they really seemed to like that. They are back in their coop tonight.
Had one of Madison's new cochin chick get caught on a wire & tear the skin on the wing, I have it all bandaged up & hoping for hte best. Completely forgot about sugar when I banaged......will have to do that when I clean it. I had my hands full doing that & working with a Turkey that pinned itself on it's back in the incubator. It is now able to stay upright but had to put boots on it to straighten out it's feet. I hatched 8 out of 11, not to bad I don't think.
