Good Morning!

Great Auction last night! I was busy again, so of course didnt get to visit much with many but, I knew you were there....

On another note: Doc made it to Bagram last night. I have not talked with him since yesterday morning, but one of his
friends there was kind enough to tell me that he is on his way to Kuwait, which is stop # 2 on his 5 step journey home.
Unfortunately, he told me that Doc would have to spend 5 days in Kuwait, because the flight there doesnt go out but once a week.
But its good to know that he is on his way!

Congratulations on the new incubator. Sounds like one a friend had who started a guinea business several years ago. It was a beautiful, upright redwood piece--almost furniture.

Thanks Traci, I reread that link...think someone had posted it two weeks ago and should have made a "favorites" link to it.
The photo of the red intestinal lining is a "normal" poo, but when one of your babies does it...it scares the heebie geebies out of ya!
Little girl is peeping to the chick in the mirror and preening her foot feathers and eatting some of the med chick feed I put on the paper towel. She has pooed two more times and it loks the same. Will keep her up in isolation for a few days to see how she mends.

NNbreeder, Maribeth...someone with experience with trachea obstruction in chickens. One of my beautiful 2 year old Delaware hens has a seed stuck just below her vocal cords. I think she ingested a seed down her windpipe and in the moisture of the trachea it has swelled and she can't eject it when she coughs. She sounds like she has a whistle in her throat. I can feel it with my finger down her throat but can't dislodge it. Massage on the outside doesn't move it down to free up more space for breathing. Besides surgical removal is there anything I can try first?

It is so basic that it reminds me of a camera that has to have all the shutter speeds and F-stops manually adjusted before each picture - but which gives you a full range of options for special effects - unlike a "click and go" kind of camera. I am looking forward to learning how it works best and have already found a photocopy of an old, old instruction manual on the internet, and printed it out.

Glad to know the cement auction was a hit... I had actually went to the bank to withdraw money so we could go and hit the bank 5 mins after it was closed

So I said ok I will try the ATM .....

only for the ATM to tell me I had the wrong pin number entered...

So I took it as a sign that it was not meant to be...

Thinned the beets today, saved the tender greens for us and gave the rest to the hens...they went nuts!
Got my fall potatoes planted. Cut cabbage for my MIL. Sent her some nice baby carrots that we pulled yesterday..again the hens loved those greens. Also sent her 18 eggs. It's nice the hens are laying again. So far getting 7 to 9 eggs a day.

The Blue Cochin chick is doing great. Brought a 2 week old EE in to be with her and they both are cheeping at the chicks in the mirror, preening. eatting, scratching, drinking and sleeping. Think we are good for now.

The Delaware is still whistling...not in distress, but sure sounds funny. Heavens, I hope that seed doesn't sprout like that old man on TV awhile back that had a pea that sprouted in his lung.
