a vet recommended it:

Instead she suggested soaking the foot for 5 minutes a day in Tricide-Neo powder for FISH. She warned my friend to be careful as to not get the solution on herself. I have no idea as to why. Anyway to make a long story short after about a week of soaks the bird no longer has bumblefoot and never had to be cut open. The vet mentioned that they had been using this for sometime and were having great results with it.

Robin most heavy breeds are prone to Bumblefoot. I like to use roosts that are no higher then 6 inches off the ground here on our hard clay. I use high roosts for many of the other birds to make them fly off the roost.

You have found a wonderful group of folks who would really like to help you expand your flock

Disclaimer: Some of us are addicted to hatching eggs, attending poultry auctions and otherwise acquiring poultry. Since addicts tend to be enablers, we may try to "assist"* you in the growth of your flock, until you suddenly have more chickens than you ever dreamed possible and are building more pens.

Robin - We went straight home because John is assisting Fr. Pat as MC at the ordination of deacons at the cathedral this afternoon. For the last week he's been participating in two-hour practices after work. Every night he looks at me and says, "I'm not ready to do this." He's not being ordained, but he's feeling responsible for everything being perfect for the men who are. Six years of formation classes.... That's a lot of study time to put in for a job that has no pay and unlimited hours. John has three years to go. Secretly it's me saying, "I'm not ready for this."

Too bad about your tomato plants. Maybe you can start another batch since the weather is still good. One of my Swedish ducks caught a little toad last night. I wonder what it's like in the belly of a duck?

Poco, I'll bet the Khakis are telling everyone about their successful trip to the big city and how awesome it was to be chosen King and Queen of the Flea Market, since everyone stopped to look at them but they didn't get "voted off the island," so to speak. I have a nephew named Zach too!
