***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Good morning, Okie-Homeys! I hope everyone survived the storms last night. Sorry to hear about cartwheeling chick pens. Have enjoyed the pictures and stories of peep mothers and squash blossoms!

We had a little rain, a scant 1/4". Young chikens out side did great. A little wind did a number on the corn patch...but they straightened up nicely this morning. Heard from my sister in Norman...right in the middle of all the hail. Her corn patch, peppers and tomatoes were pounded but she thinks they will survive.

Coffee in the garden in the wisteria arbor was lovely this morning while the big chickens got to free range for an hour. The cooler weather today will be nice. Goal today for the garden is pull grass from the small asparagus bed and plant a few more cucumbers.

morning folks! we must have not gotten much, the ground isn't damp at all.... container garden is watered, blooms all over the place- only planted tomatoes and cukes- continuing with the waterbird pen- cant wait for the new gosling - no sign of poser at all-

i need ideas for the duck pool, what do you do for a drain??

Overall I think my coop was the biggest loss, well and my one little chick. The other cattle pannel coop never moved & none of the other coops appear to have damage. All the other chickens dried up nicely. They spent the night in a hotwater heater box with 2 lamps on. They were a little crowded but it worked.
I have not looked at my car or van. Scared to see what the golf ball size hail did to them! They were parked under the trees so fingers crossed not too much damage.
DH drove out this am to check on us, told him he was a little late I could have used him last night. One plus, he is now ready to close off the lean to on the barn for the chickens. Will give me a nice big space & hopefully won't blow away!

Think we are going to use some army tent stakes to anchor the coops. Will be a pain to pull the anchors & drive them back in each time i move the coop, but hopefully will help some!

I think Elgin was hit worse than us. The lost part of the gas station & a friend was texting me pics of a tree ripped out of the ground & their boat got flipped over!

Look what I found this morning while watering the garden!!!!!

Although it did come down pretty heavy... the hail wasnt that big at all.. everything seemed to be coming down at an angle.. I think a neighbor lost some tree branches but they looked rough anyhow and were ready to come down.. Then again at least on my side of Elgin it didnt seem so bad... cant speak for the rest of the "town"
