Is anyone getting their feed mixed in bulk @ the a local feed mill? I know you can get it mixed as small as 100 lbs in Carnegie & have heard that the feed store in marlow could also mix feed. I have the reciepe that a farmer is using @ the carnigie mill, but Marlow would be closer. Just need to see if Marlow has the ingredients. Tried calling them, but the lady couldn't even tell me what they used as the protien source. Think I will have to drive out. There take a few recipes & see if they have enough ingredients on hand. I think scratch is the only thing they sell on the shelves that they mix there. The layer they order, so I am not sure if they will have the ingredients to mix layer.
Just wondering what anyone else around here is doing. Since we are just getting moved out to our place most of our chickens are still on starter. I haven't done a head count, scared to actually. Each of my girls have a few types of chicks they wanted to hatch out & of course I have my own too! DH says we can keep 60. But the other day he did mention I could keep 100 chickens in the barn. Wonder if he was saying 100 @ the barn plus chickens in all 3 of the other coops.
