***OKIES in the BYC III ***

According to Ben and Jerry's it is National Ice Cream day, now that's a Holiday I can get behind!

I seen wer [[[ Okie-do ]]] planted snake gord's on his chicken pen's for shade .....I had houny suckle vine's planted to start with on my pen's..An it worked great but i thot i would plant some thing that we could eat an the bird's could to so i planted ..Grape vine's on all the pen's that cant be moved..The leaf's die in the winter an let in the sunlight wer the houny suckle would just keep growing an get thicker..I bot all of thim on sale in the late spring you realy have to give thim water or they will burn up out hear
Last yr they wer so loaded the bird's couldnt eat thim all they just dried up...
I planted lot's of fruit tree's for the chicken's an even some maulberry tree's they wer the only thing that made any fruit this yr..
I love ready every one's input about wat they would plant it make's thing's interesting some time's i dont say wat i think to keep from steping on other peep's toa's but it shouldnt be that way..
Every one should put ther 2cent's in with out worry ..Wer all hear to lern from one another an i lern some thing new every day..
As long as it's not directed to some one it shouldnt matter...We lost some of the Okie's off of hear over the yrs because they got mad over silly stuff ..
Every one has bad day ..An wat you put on hear is read by 1,000's of folk's across the state even if they dont post..

Macy fished all day at Lake Burtschi yesterday tel dark some of her peep's wonted to go ther they cot some perch .....She said they mite have started biteing better after dark...
Last yr we went an fished by the pole light after dark an cot some drum an carp they put up a good fight..

I met a guy at the sale last night he was from Medpark he live down 4 mile rd . I ask him if he ever got on BYC he said he had seen a book but didnt no about the web site.
He was a sup nice guy said his name was Gerry Howell his big R.I.R roo's brot more than most of the hen's that night...

that or I also have crown vetch witch the birds love, its high in protien closely related to alfalfa but spreads and chokes out most weeds very quickly and grows back year after year.

I don't mind replanting it if it looks cool like that and shades them. I'm going to look up gourds.

Thank you!! I've heard so many good things about that place but I've never been there. I think I know exactly where it's at. We're just east of I-35 north of Edmond. So Red Earth is pretty much a straight shot down the road.

Little Prince Wilhelm passed sleeping in my lap last night. I had fed him mash for almost a week and mash pellets for two days and he simply wasn't getting any better. I brought him in from the hot tub room yesterday morning and had him in a nest box with a perch board and food and water within head reach. Such a sweet little man...he loved being held and stroked. Upcdazy and her grand children really had him trained nicely. He would be the first to greet you in the morning and want to ride on an arm or shoulder while feeding all the others. Not all chickens will "purr/growl" to you, but PW always did. He will be greatly missed.

My neighbors have a wild barn cat that has had to litlers of kittens in their hen house...used a nest bos. The cat sleeps in the hen house and catches mice. The chickens are LF and their is a healthy respect beteen the chickens and the cat.​
