I don't believe any cochin standard or bantam could get to that height in flight. I now my big ones wont get over 6 inches by hopping and do not even attemp to fly. the bantams have a tendency to be even lower to the ground in body position and stance, one difference noticeable in type between teh LF and Bantam. I think a 2 ft fence will hold both with no problems, the 4 ft fence gives them protection from whats outside of it.

This heat has been hard on the rabbits. I lost half a dozen at the beginning of the heat and one this week, but for the most part, they are hanging in there. I put some of the favorites on the ground and they have dug themselves a burrow beneath the 55 gallon barrels that are in the pen for shelter. In this heat, the bucks are heat sterile so I am not worried about unplanned pregnancies. When it is cooler, I will start breeding them again. In this heat, a pregnant doe would be at great health risk.

What wonderful news! I'm planning on a 50'x50' or so pen inside the fenced backyard so that'll work just fine, I think. I didn't realize even the bantams didn't fly. That just opens up a whole new Cochin world for me now

I did find Mille Fleur Cochin bantam eggs on Ebay. Course there's no guarantee of color but I'm sure wanting to try another hatch.....
Thanks for your info.

You might check with MJ or Muesky for Mille Fluer bantam cochins or hatching eggs.

i have a few black cochin teens, and they like to jump up to get out if they can, but don't know if they would fly over a four foot fence

we got rain here, pretty noisy and windy

All but 3 of my birds are Cochins bantams and they all are sweet.

One 6 week old little roo wants to peck me when I get the feeder out of the pen but that is just one in 75.
They can fly up 4 feet and many of them like to roost up that high.
