You guys talking about auctions is killing me. I want to get this pen done & my turkey pen done before I get many more birds, the auctions are so temping! I don't dare tell my husband about them. He'd go buy up a bunch of birds.

funny u should say that because i have that one and the two younger pullets at the house. those alll came from the same pair that he sold a few months ago for 50 a piece, i tried to buy them too but i was only in for 25 a piece i cant bring myself to spend more than 50 a pair

Kass , I have read up on that but not tried it yet. It makes since theat stuff would come up when its ready. Just like the volunteer tomatoes that have come up in my garden for the last three years. That has led me to being more confident in planting tomatoe seeds rather than buying plants. The seed s come up and grow faster than the plants so I get tomatoes about the same time. I would like to try other things and see how it does.

Just got in from the sale. It was a nice one today. Lots of birds. Turkeys everywhere,lots of young peafowl. More silkies than any other breed of chicken. I picked up three nice EE bantam hens . Two are white with a little red and one is reddish buff. I needed the lighter colors to mix in my flock. Everything sold very well except for the rats!,but I didn't have anything in them so thats okay.

Well, I just finished scouring through the Baker Creek catalouge. Making my wish list and used much restraint,

(no really) and I'm still at two hundred.

So I guess it means either I didn't use enough restraint,

or I need to do some deal shopping, or I need to work some overtime. Probably all three.

Well didn't make it to any sales today, but I did manage to get a trio of beautiful blue orpingtons. Can't wait until they start laying.

No sales for us today dh offered to go to blanchard, but figure i need to go a few weeks without any losses before we try to get more. Girls & I picked up the yard for a while today. I know the temperature is cooler than has been but the humidity is making it miserable! I will stop complaining though & be thankful forthe awesome rain we received. It always surprises me some of the "treasures" we find out here. And of course after a good rain even more stuff washes up. Found some very old padlocks that were kinda neat-- no use in them- so they went in the scrap metal pile. Found this today, one of the pieces to hold it on a chain is broke, but thought it was a neat find. don't have a use for it either, but might think of something Pic is with my phone, so the stone looks much darker in picture.
