***OKIES in the BYC III ***

How are you able to do that - not land at least one of those really cool birds? We will look for you in Blanchard in September - if we get the pension checks in time

Dave was determined to get a couple of pens, but it was so hot we left - even before the little gamers came up. Hope they went to someone who will be good to them. Boiled together in one pot they wouldn't make a cup of boullion!

Blanchard will NOT have an auction on Aug 27, but instead will have its next auction September 10. Apparently, the school wants to use their own building for something directly related to a school activity

Thanks, P&B. We don't usually have plans for more than a few minutes, but we really needed to get our mouthy little guy to an auction before we were turned in for having a noisy pet (the rooster, not Dave).

We will try to make the Sept 10 date, at least I will write it on my calendar.

The good looking chicken hutches on legs sold for over $100 each.

Since I have more chickens than I "need", even with chicken math, it wasn't so hard to turn down some more. It was however probably a good thing that I wasn't paying attention when the red bourbon turkeys went through. They were sold by Funchick and only brought $15 each for the pair. At that price, I might have needed to move some things around or cover another dog run, to provide them a secure home.

I can't tell you how fortunate I feel that we left a little early! We truly are stretching it a bit with the birds we have already. If it wasn't that our neighbors love to come out and watch over the back fence, we'd be in jail! As long as we keep finding homes for the roos as they come along, we'll be OK - I think. That certainly is a fine price for the hutches!

I am thinking one more dog run and a couple of A frames will do..lol.

You ain't goin to jail over a few chickens, just give th enosy neighbors fresh eggs, they'll leave you alone. You just need quite chickens.

I know you need bantam Wyandotte and bantam Cochin Hens.. they're small, don't each much, lay nice size eggs and are real quite and cute to look at.
Keep in mind each one only counts as 1/4 a chciken though

I've gotta say I'm feeling quite left out. I didn't make it to an auction, and I didn't get to hang out with any byc'ers. And worst of all, I didn't get any new chickens. lol ok... so I gotta ask. How do ya'll know who is who when you get to an auction?? The only one I've been to is the one at stillwater, but now I wonder if I haven't seen some of you byc celebs there and didn't even know it!

Enjoyed the Blanchard auction tonight even though I came away empty handed. After seeing the prices they were getting for the cages, I think I'll just make my own. It was nice visiting with the BYCers that I saw there.

Last night someone's pit bull was in my yard going after the chickens. I scared it off only to watch it climb over my 6 ft stockade fence. It certainly looked like it had done that before. I went to a few neighbors' houses to find out who owns the dog but no one claimed it, so I got the shotgun ready and waited for the dog to come back. It hasn't come back yet, and hope it doesn't, but if it does it's going meet Mr. Winchester in a hurry! Had to call my family to let them know they may have to get me out of the clink, and to stay close to the phone.

Amy - I've only been to a few of the auctions myself and when I did go, I just went up to folks and asked if they were BYCers. Eventually I found someone who was and they introduced me to the others. A few of them will wear the POOPS t-shirts and can be identified that way, too. The BYCers I have met have all been nice, helpful folks.
