***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Hey everyone:

Our horses have been accounted for, the goat is accounted for(Thanks Buster) now all I gotta do is talk Turkey with a few folks and our livestock will have been rehomed...

We have another realtor coming to the house tomorrow (same fella that helped us buy the place.. ok ok he is also a friend from the place we worship at..lol) to give us his facts and figures.. good thing with him is his real estate company also manages property so he knows if we need to rent it out he can help us in that area too.

I cant believe we have 2 months 2 weeks and 6 days till we are to report to Fort Drum... but in reality we will be leaving sooner than that... Already been trying to get our feelers out there for a rental... preferably in a rural setting to continue our poultry addiction ... I mean hobby

but understand we may have to just settle in a quiet neighbor with just the dogs and cats..lol and I will do my darndest not to be a bitter spinster about it.. ha ha ha.

How is everyone else?

Hello fellow BYCer's. Thought I would drop a line to say hello. Have been working on the new House, Cabin, or Cottage. I call it a converted storage shed. But it is paid for!!!!!

I have missed chatting and and going to the auctions and seing everone. Nocityboy brought me over 2 cochins today, very pretty birds. I will have find some time to build them a new coupe soon. We had to buy some land and move onto it see we were on my MILs land. We will close to a pond this time so i guess I will have new critter problems other than skunks, snakes and armidillos.

see yall later.

artsyrobin - Thank you for the recipes. I'll try them. The little chick is eating a little on her own some of the recipe that Nanakat posted. She is just so weak and wobbly I have to keep the food right under her, and jiggle her to wake up. As soon as she wakes up she pecks at the food. I hope that giving her all the extra nutrition will do the trick.

NNBreeder's suggestin of the applesauce is really good for helping motivate the digestive system. It would be good if it is natural..like baby food applesauce without all the added sugar. The honey will be the sweet in the "FORMULA.

Glad to hear the baby is holding her own. It will probably be safe to leave her with her little roommate for companionship at night. The formul will be good for the other baby also.

Elwood...so sorry to hear about your chicken losses.

Okracefan...nice to hear yu are getting settled. I'm sure you have been really busy in this heat and are looking forward to the cooler temperature.

Sooner.... If the "canvas" around your new home is blank, getting the trees set in the ground is the biggest bang for your buck. Next is shrubbery and perenials. Fall is a good time to plant all of these.

No Blank canvas, this is the exsisting place we were already at & DH is a pack Rat, he has piles of stuff he will use. I have convinced him that his piles are an eye sore & he need to use them or move them. The rest if fill dirt to make it easier to mow & alittle on top of what is here to give us better top soil. I am working to add fruit trees this fall.

Mary's Swap Meet in Midwest City is EVERY Saturday and Sunday morning. The sign on the fence around the area calls it a swap meet, but most folks would consider it to be a flea mkt. Michael is there most Saturday mornings. Folks set up tables or sell out of the trunk of their car. It is sort of like a giant garage sale in one location, with animal vendors congregated mostly in one corner of the area. It is located at NE 23rd and Midwest Blvd in Midwest City and if you like to browse at garage sales, it is a fun place to walk around (particularly when it is cooler.) Most of the vendors of the "stuff" start packing up between 11:00 and noon. Some of the critter vendors, like Michael, stay until 1:00 or so.
