***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thanks, I'll pass the info on to her. My original thought had been just to contact MichaelD and see about meeting up at an auction. Really could use a poultry road trip. The other guy she contacted off of Craigslist.

They started with standard yardbirds around the farm. We encouraged incubating their own this spring. Talked her into the children's fair this summer. Now they're busy converting an unused two car garage into chicken central.

Hummm...speaking of overrun with chickens... is anyone out there interested in the rooster from the rescue chickens in yesterday's thread? He is beautiful, but waaaayy too noisy for this neighborhood. We'll be run out with tar and loads of feathers - and one noisy rooster!! I think he is RIR.

Avery,
Michael should be able to help you out with that... He seems to have ways and contacts that never fail to amaze the rest of us when we are lokking for something.. With all of the shows taking place in his area this weekend and over the next week there will likely be a run of nice birds when the kids are done showing..

Robin, I'm in that boat, too. I can't part with the Silkie boys. I'm just going to make a bachelor pen for them. This is the only home they know and they're so sweet...I don't have the heart to get rid of them. They can have a dorm room just for boys.

Michael, I love the subject of dogs. I used to do Pyrenees rescue (& any livestock guardian dog rescue really). I had 6 Pyrs at one time all from the same lines in Colorado in the 90's. They all got old or got cancer and died

I've had a couple Akbash and have helped transport hundreds of dogs over the past 20 yrs for rescue. I wish I had my Pyrenees back. Most the dogs I've got now would eat my chickens and look for more no matter how much "training" they got. I just use a lot of hot wire and chain link.

all of the banties are in their new run, and so far, so good, no extreme bullying other than izzy the broody who's daughters are almost her size, she is ultra protective, so i have 4 mini flocks trying to figure who goes where- its big enough i can take a chair out and sin in the run and watch them- once its all done i'll post pics- a total of 13 banties with Captain the roo, he is a gorgeous cochin from Cuban, and barbara the BR and her silkie buddy who captian seems convinces is a pullet...so we will see

flo the silkie and her kids are in a separate run - 2 of them are boys, one nn and one silver striped cochin, and the bachelor silkie boys- so its slowly coming together- so how many will a 14 x 14 run support? so far the little cockerals are good natured and non agressive- thinking these need homes
