Never put a single dog against a Coyote, always two or more so they have a better chance. We ran Black and Tans and trailhounds for many years hunting them.
Love to hear the Coyotes at night because after all, if the're howling they arn't hunting.
We had a single male dog up till this last year and he would take on and tackle 2-3 at a time but then again he is a 150lb + rotty, now we have the second dog, Bear, who is turning out to be much larger and they now team up on everything includes teh Coyotes. It is fun to watch them perk up and take off when the coyotes start to howl in the evening. Sometimes they will dissapear for the night and you will not hear a coyote for weeks.
