We haven't been here long ourselves Aleisha, but we surely have learned a lot about chickens since. For instance, we learned Chicken Math! Now we know that a mastery of it is mandantory to graduation, but it is almost as easy as ... well, come to think of it, it isn't real easy, just a little illogical! Well, there are plenty of tutors and enablers here for you. Glad you joined.

Are you going to the Green Country Poultry Swap in Stillwell on the 17th? If you are, I can bring some blue Maran pullets, a splash Maran cockerel, and I think I may also have a black copper Maran cockerel. I think they are from my July 16 hatch. Are you just wanting females?

Evening all you folks still at home! I spent the day at the Elkton,Ky sale. It was a buyers market but not a sellers day! I bought a quad of BBRPhoniex bantams. They are gorgeous! The roos tail is at least two feet long! Took 17 bantam roos, all young and sold them, that will help the feed bill!lol. Took my mama ducks and their babys, they didn't do well at all,got home and had someone wanting them by e-mail for twice what I got for them! Thats my luck here lately! It was a pretty day here. They were bringing pumpkins in for their big pumpkin auctions at the Elkton sale. I took pics but have to get them off my phone. There were pumpkins of all discription,as well as gourds and indian corn. They sell to buyers like walmart, food stores, etc. Its a pretty good sideline for the memmonites.
Well hope all have a great night,I have to go for a sleep study tonight, not real excited about it!

First, I'd like to say welcome to Barnchick! It always makes me feel good to see other newbies!

Next, I'd like to ask another question...

I'm going to set some eggs, I got an incubator, but no thermometer. Found out quickly you can't buy a mercury thermometer anymore. So, I ordered a digital that tells temp & humidity, and I got an old thermometer from my dad that I assume is an old mercury thermometer. Put both in the incubator and get totally different readings!! The incubator has been on for days, and I'm not putting the eggs in until I get this worked out.

Which thermometer would you trust??? Please hurry, I can't wait to get some eggs goin!

Lynn, the three youngsters fit in immediately with the five I had. The pair are still in their temorary quarters until I can be sure their pen is secure enough. They're all doing fine. Have had no more predator attacks so far.

Do you have somewhere w/ a known temp? If you can think of a place that you know the temp of (refrigerator or someplace like that) put both in and see which is accurate.
