OMG! As heartbreaking as it is going through losing mine at least the ones that die will be loved and comfortable til the end. Those poor baby chicks! God, your daughter must be devastated.

Well my girls are defiantly not asking to keep the dog anymore! Crazy since she is so tiny, 7lbs. I never would have thought she could cause that kinda harm! DD wasn't too upset about the birds, she only gets upset if she looses the ones she is really attached to & we have been hatching nonstop the past month, so plenty of chicks @ our place-- the rest of them are still under heat lamps though. We have lost a few dz to coyotes & hawks, but this was the biggest hit!!!

Seen on the new's a wile back wer peep was taking ther dog's to the pound because they couldnt feed thim dog food has got so HI..

Just came in from harvesting the garden and saying goodbye

Have you tried to cover any of the plants? I would be out there with every sheet & any tarps or plastic I could find! Will be sad to loose all your hard work to the weather after working so hard through the hot weather to get it this year.

At 7lbs, would he dress out as well as a frier?

Your DD must be a forgiving soul, I think that if a dog got in and did that to my birds I would help Karma out; sooner than later

Here is another thread on Oxine, in it I posted a pic of the brand we use. Awesome stuff!

Edited forgot to mention it's made in Norman, OK

It's worth the money where ever you get it, makes a big difference in the birds and facilities. anything that will kill fungus and staph is a great product in my book. safe on eggs, chicks, birds, incubator, hatcher, pens, ground, dogs & cats (ring worm)

BFrancis, do you know what place in Norman sells it? Or do they just make it there?
Does anyone know if I'd be able to soak the run down with it (you dilute it, right?) The run is sand/dirt and I rake it up every day but the vet said because dirt is organic material it would inactivate bleach so it'd be useless to try to bleach down the run. As soon as I lost the 1st one I pulled every single pine shaving out of their coop, hosed it out and soaked it in bleach and put new shavings in. I was reading where they've had good luck with physically moving the birds to a different area. I'm building the turkey pen (probably lose them, too, huh?) and I can hurry up and get the last 2 sides up and divide it. Put the Cochins in 1 10' X 10" and the turkeys in the other 10' x 10'. Let me know about the oxine-if I can soak the run down. Because I'll put the Silkies in there after I move the Cochins.

With Oxine I have sprayed down the run, inside the coop, nest boxes, roosts, walls, everything the birds touch. I use a garden pump up sprayer. 1/2 oz per gallon of water.

For flys, we use Pinesol diluted in a spayer. 1 oz per gallon of water.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments about ImaJean.

NanaKat, where do you get it?
Carl, where's this Cutler's place you get it at? I can order it online but it'll take til Monday to get here.
I'm reading about this stuff and I'm pretty impressed. Plus I'm desperate. I've lost 1 bird and 2 more aren't going to make it. Before anyone else comes down with symptoms I want to get ahold of this stuff.
