Finished just in time,we are supposed to get from 1-3 inches of rain tonight! Its really warm out so there will proably be storms too.
Hope everyone had a great day, check with you in the morning.gnite!

Hay would anyone know were i might be able to find some white leghorn bantams. Would like to find some for my old man he's been wanting some for a while but haven't had much luck finding any.

I do like the A frames. Pretty color on them too!

So Kass-- how many different ways have you put okra up? I am thinking let the rest dry on the plants for seed or crafts. I have never done any crafts, but seen some cute ones!

Spent the day cooking chili, 2 - 18quart pans full, plus the fixings. DH ceremony is @ noon tomorrow. Hope for cool weather so everyone wants chili. If not for the next few months we will be having chili dogs, fritos, chili Mac & anything else I can think of that has chili in it! Was thinking if a bunch is leftover may take the teachers lunch wednesday. I am sure I made more than enough, but I don't want to run out of food- that would be awful embarrassing. Been to other receptions where the food has ran out & it leaves everyone frustrated.

Bonus of the day-- after cooking for the entire day DH had family come over for dinner. I understand they drove in for his ceremony, so yes we should feed them, but I sure didn't want to cook dinner! I took the easy way out & we had spaghetti with meatballs... Thankfully I had made meatballs this weekend & froze them.

jcatblum ,lol the color came about because I mixed several cans of old pait I had together as there wasn't enough of any one to do them! I think its a pretty pleasing color!
Question for the gardeners. If you were going to save pumpkin seed would you cut open a ripe one or let it mature and start to rot or when would you take the seed?I just wonder if they are viable if taken out of a ready fresh pumpkin.

Old cowboy I sure am likeing them, the only draw back is getting down so low to put feed and water in! When you get to old and stiff you don't bend as well!I also think I will add nestboxes on the back(end) attached to the outside to make collecting eggs easier. I really like the tightness to keep the wild birds out, that should help control some of the sicknes. In the warm weather I will replace the plastic with sun shade cloth.
Oh yeah cowboy,I got me some new pigeons, rollers< it just didn't seem right not to have any! They been in my blood to long!

I'm not a big okra fan so I only put it up two ways, spiced and dehydrated, and corn meal dusted and froze. I tried every way you can imagine to get my chickens to eat it (that is why I even grew it at all) but they flat refused. So far that is the only food they have completely refused to eat, w/ pumpkin a close second.

I have been giving away all I could (most of it) and the rest has gone in the compost bin.

I have been saving pods that got to far gone and have plenty of seeds for next year, but I won't plant nearly as much, just a few plants to act as shade for other plants, and maybe a couple of plants in the flower beds. I am going to chip the plant stalks when they die for compost, but some of them I will have to cut w/ a chainsaw!!!! (not even exagerating)

I'm not that much into "crafting" I like to sew and quilt, and I've been trying my hand at painting some (pictures) but I'm not into dustables (store bought or hand made). I did make some zuni indian inspired pottery after we came home from a trip to the Grand Canyon, those are dustables, but they were cool.

Okla I looked up that info (pumpkin seed saving) just last week in preperation for the swap. From what I read winter squash seed can be harvested from a mature and ready to eat squash. It's the summer squash that are trickier.
