Some of you with the game cocks-what do you feed them? I'm having one HECK of a time finding pelleted feed fit for a rooster in my area (Guthrie). I just posted in another thread about it, someone else was talking about it. I want something that I can feed to all of them and just put out oyster shell for the layers in their yard. I thought I'd found the perfect food (my husband called me from Atwoods in Stillwater). It's NatureWise All Flock by Nutrena. But I just now looked it up and the dang stuff is vegetarian! Which is NOT what I wanted. I don't necessarily want or need all animal protein but I don't want strictly vegetarian either.
Jarvis told me about the stuff in Shawnee but that's quite a haul to drive to Shawnee. I didn't see on their websight where they listed ingredients and protein content, etc.
Most people just feed roosters what the girls eat, because roosters are expendable and they don't keep them long term so what it does to their kidneys is of no concern to them. But mine are pets so that doesn't apply here.
There's supposed to be some kind of game cock feed that would be good. Anyone know if it's any around Guthrie?
