***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We've had heavy rain since 11:00 last night. Conner mixed it up with a skunk at midnight, so I was up early bathing him. I'd forgotten how awful the smell can be. When DH got home from OKC, I'd just put Conner in the tub, so the scent was still strong and unpleasant.

Good morning!

Mornin' Okies! After 3 days of cleaning, cooking and EATING...............it is going to be a day of doing nothing! I have taken control of the remote control and have announced the "channel" of the day will be whatever I want it to be......

We most likely will spend the day in sweats and jammies

Tomorrow I will feel guilty about not doing all the things that should be done..........but today I am going to enjoy every moment of hanging out with my kids!
I hope y'all have a great day with whatever comes your way!

Went to raining here early last night. About 10 old Buster (my Faulkner cur chicken watch dog) went to baying hard. Went out in rain and shot another skunk. Makes so far 1 coon, 4 skunks and 5 possums. Buster is awesome sept he has to stay on a long cable that runs the intire length of chicken complex on the west side. If he was loose he would be down on the creek instead of gaurding chickens. Still looking for LGD pup. I was feeling all happy and stuff with all this game and not losing any birds. Then 2 nights ago something killed two of my white cornish bantam pullets. I have stepped up my defence. I now have 6 traps out, Buster, and make random night patrols.

So far 1/4 inch rain and three earthquake in Meeker.

Hubby is at the farm auction at the Expo Center and told me not to miss the OU kickoff at 11 am.

But I have chickies to go feed and eggs to candle. Nasty Nesty Nellie is still sitting hard on those eggs. She won't come out to exercise so I'll have to pull her from the nest to check the eggs. I moved her food and water bowls away from the nest box to entice her to get out. I'm taking out rice bags I've heated in the microwave to help keep the eggs warm while I candle and a soft brush and diluted oxine spray. I know she will live up to the Nasty part...pecking my hands and leaving poo in the nest box. So I hav a bag of dry hay to reline her nest.

Hope everyone has some great Saturday rainy day plans.

Went out after I was on computor earlier. Had another possum in the traps. 1 coon, 4 skunk and now 6 possums. Man they was running in the rain last night. Hope all have a good weekend.

NanaKat,
You have another CW hatched it is in the brooder with the rest of this weeks hatch.

Cool! What about the BLRW? Were any of them viable?

Cleaned NNN's nest box and candled the eggs....removed 6 that were not growing. One of the two BLRW eggs is still in the nest box...so hoping she will hatch it out. All 12 in the nest were filled out dark and blocked light so I'm hopeful. I had to work quickly since her cage is in the barn and the outside temps are 45 degrees. Had to totally change out her nest including a new box. She clucked and cooed the whole time I was working and zipped right into the new box with the eggs and settled in nicely. The eggs were still nice and warm from the heated rice bags. The thermometer in there with them showed 98 degrees so they didn't chill down too much. This should be day 16.

Nothing else made it, No fertile BLR, a few others started to develop but failed to finish, this was the only 1 that made it to the end and hatched.
