Green Country!! We have grass & tree's along with our wind.

X 2! In Haskell we have wind, grass, and trees come last. The grass if full of snakes, though, so you might consider that a bonus feature. Great to see you online. Maybe you can spend more time filling us in on your adventures during your winter break.

So sorry for your loss NanaKat.

Though I'd ask this here as well as the d'Anvers thread.
What would be a good brooder size cage for say... 12 Bantam or OEGF chicks aged 1 - 3 weeks of age? I can make several.

Next question...what's a good size for a nest box for d'Anvers and game birds?
Do they like an enclosed box or an open one?

Hubby says if I put one in the cage, I should go ahead with one a LF can use in case I use the cage for a big broodie hen.
I'm thinking if the size of the nest box makes a difference, I have enough quarantine cages to use one for broodie LF.

Thanks Teri. George was a hard-nosed cattleman but a good family man. This will be a tough time of year for his wife, children and grandchildren. They are a strong family and have been expecting this for several years as his health failed.

going to slick ok today for feed. getting horse cattle and chicken feed. lol might see if they have dog food too. anyone have any input on the best chicken feed up there? the guy said alot of people do baby beef for their chickens.

Put my Old English Game hen in the coop with the bigger birds yesterday. They are mostly just ignoring her. We did go out and make them let her in the huddle they make to stay warm last night. She was huddled under the ramp this morning so I'm wondering if they kicked her out or if she was just up because the biggest chicken was.
