Sjarvis raises some very nice blue wheatens. Nana, the bird I posted is bigger bodied than most spangled cocks. I have some of Jeff's spangled, they are nice stock.

there was a pamphlet written about common sense that should be required reading in high school but we need to pass all those tests that are so important and show what kids know

Thanks Matt. Purchased them at the Expo in Shawnee Dec 12. Breeder is Jeff Burkhart out of Gainsville Tex. The legbands show OEGBCA with 11 as the year of birth and the pullet has #332 and the roo has #356
That first picture doesn't show off his tail very well. This one is better. The black is an irridescent green

your spangeled roo is verry nice i have been looking for a good one ( one with all the right spots) to go with my hens the roo i have with them now is OK but im looking for better quality one

Thank you Banjoe. They are a nice addition to our flock. Never had Bantams before but hubby did when he was little. Picked up the pair for him. They have yet to start laying. Maybe this Spring. I have Jeff's contact information. He had several more birds available.

Rex a lot of people will do some winning with a bird, chicken or pigeon and show it a year or two. No problem there, and they do some more winning. The problem then arises when they cannot raise better than the bird that has won thus far so they keep packing said bird to the shows. It aint a big problem though, as the older the birds get, they go to breaking down some and someone else passes them in the breeding pen. It is something that takes care of itself.

OK, I went from my high dollar piece of crap custom built incubator last year to a brand new still air styrofoam from tractor supply. I am fixing to stick 2 dozen eggs in the thing. Any tips from anyone who has used these that is not in the manual.

Don't rely in the thermometer that comes with the incubator. I set two others in mine at different levels to help gauge the temp.
Set it up in a room withour drafts that will remain consistant in temperature.
Mine leaked so put something wterproof on your table or counter that won't blck the bottom air holes. I used papertoweling on top of a plastic trash can bag.
If yours doesn't have an egg turner, you can use dowel sticks to hold the rows of eggs and then hand roll them.
Near hatch time, I put a damp sponge in each corner to help hold the humidity.

Thanks for the tips. I have 2 thermometers in it now. Im playing with it now, so maybe have it (and one or two more) up and running time the girls get in high gear.
