this has been one of THOSE days....
I was holding my noel, a special needs silky, (from Betsy) she began breathing hard- went into convulsions and was gone...... such a special girl. I am thankful i had time to hold her in her last moments- am clueless as to what happened- she had wrytail, but nothing else i could see.....

So sorry to hear about your Noel. Sad news, but she had a good home, a good chicken mama and was loved while she was with you.

Sooner shame on you for scaring everyone with those photos! You could have cropped out pretty Miss Beth and left all us old geezers out of it,now folks will have night mares!lol.
In answer to your question on what was I sewing,Iam working on another quilt to take to the june meet. Hope to have several done by then. Nothing else we can use them as tarps to shade the birds!lol.

Finally got home about 2:30 and put a divider in my loft to separate my roller pigeons from my American Conffettis. Now I'm so sore I can hardly move.

Tony O I didn't know you had swans,do you have a lake for them or a big pond.What do they eat? I don't guess I have ever been around swans. Seen some white ones at an auction last year,boy they are big birds!

Teva is always buying blankets at garage and yard sales and they do come in handy.

But somehow she has never brought home the quality of quilt that you produce. I guess those are too treasured to be sold.

Those were nice Welsummers. Did you leave early. I saw some chickens that came in late that looked like Barred Rocks, including a roo. I went looking for you but couldn't find you and we left at about 9:15 so I don't know what they sold for.

Mike bought the BR Roo and I talked him outta it LOL I had to put my new hens in there new coop last night but they stayed in just fine and tonight they didn't need any help at all they seem to be making themselves right at home and even gifted me 2 eggs so far I would have liked to have put them in the bator since they are from a different Roo than one I have but both were cracked since I didn't have a nest box set in for them yet they did what they had to do and tomorrow they have more choices LOL

If you Google the address, be sure to put in SOUTH County Line Rd., because County line Rd is in a much different location on the North Side of HWY 62 than where it is on the South side of HWY 62 (yes, there is a reason some of us know that little tidbit of information)

No kidding there LOL, First time I went to Blanchard auction we used the GPS and no matter how we put in the address it took us north of Hwy 62 but once I headed south of the Hwy I went right to it.

i have used the homozigus NNs that i got from the U of A to make culumbean NNs the F1s look verry good i will be breeding these F1 pullets with the susexs and should hatch 50% NN chicks that will be verry large and should have great culumbean color what do yall think ??

Yesterday some very bright person shot a tank battery West of Kingfisher and it blew the top off of one of the tanks. It was 14 miles West of where we live and it rattled this ol' trailer pretty good.

Shouldn't be too hard to find whomever it was that shot it. I imagine they are talking loudly while shopping for new windows in whatever they were driving!

i have used the homozigus NNs that i got from the U of A to make culumbean NNs the F1s look verry good i will be breeding these F1 pullets with the susexs and should hatch 50% NN chicks that will be verry large and should have great culumbean color what do yall think ??

If you are going for show quality birds it might get iffy as the body type may be off quite a bit from standard but you are a good breeder that can correct that in a few generations. But if you are just going for size and color then it looks like it would work. About the only thing you will notice of the Columbian pattern is the black tail. Due to the lack of hackles you don't get the black tipped feathering on the neck most of the time but some may have just a hint of the black around the neck.

For show I like crossing with the Giants or Rocks, their body is not as massive and rounded like Orps or Sussex.

Some years ago there was talk of placing unmanned automatic radar setups along side the highways around the state and they changed their minds about the project when it was pointed out how many things you can find along the states roads that aren't full of bullet holes....

Joe here is a pair that shows the Columbian pattern. If the rooster wasn't so brassy he would have looked a lot better.

Robin on rare occasions there can be problems with breeds that have the vaulted skull. Sometimes it doesn't form right which causes neurological problems such as seizures and it can even be fatal.

I know that the Silkie had the best of care in your hands. I'm sorry for your loss.

jow, they are very exotic looking! beautiful coloring- what are their personalities like?
