Thanks for asking. Healing well; better than the one in July. Still quite a bit of pain at times, but painkillers take care of that. Can walk pretty well without a cane.

So galad to hear that.

We know very little of my father's side family hx. No clue about his biological father, except that he did in his mid 40's from a jacked up car falling on him and crushing him. His mother, my Gma who raised me has/d at least 10 sibling/half siblings that she knew about, but only briefly met two or maybe three when they were children. My father traveled the whole of the U.S. for most of his life ............ and what's the PC family friendly way to put this "tom catted" his way all over the U.S. So yes anything is possible.

My grandmother said her son, my father, suffered from "WanderLust" He left when I was 7.
My Mom had 4 children she raised us with the support from both my Grandmothers. It was a Matriarch rich family. All the girls became very self-sufficient and confident. My little brother was the only boy. A great man runs his own business .. has never married.....

Preppingtoday for the rain. going to lay down some clean straw in the hen house.

Going to meet Carl to pick up the last to from the hatch.

Hubby was up and down all night coughing and sneezing...hasn't had a sneezing cold the whole time he had his trach in and now that it's out, he is making up for three years. Of course, he spent lots of time three days ago in the dust in the corner of the barn and his allergies are really kicking him in the rear.

We have a bridge builder out of Wellston coming today to bring rip-rap to put at the ends of all three of our huge tinhorns to help anchor them in place. Earlier this year we had a 6, a 7 and an 8 foot diameter tinhorn set ot make crossing our creeks easier. They have rye and fescue seeded on them but we haven't had a big enough rain yet to really test the dirt pack on top. So the rip-rap is cheaper than concrete buttresses and should do the job.

Good Morning! Looks like I missed out on some chatting last night~

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!!!

I will be getting ready for the rain when I get home tonight. Not going to complain because we sure need it.

Good morning!

Yes it is going to be beautiful day. But we have company coming tomorrow, so I have to clean my house today! Bleck!

Today we are also mowing the clover patch behind our house, and raking it and feeding it to the hens today. So we will be busy.

Anywhoo... While I hope we do get rain, I hope it is not a soggy rain. We are moving a lot of compost and mulch on Saturday and wet material is heavier and not so fun to move.

Have a great day everyone!

Will pecans cross pollinate with hickorys?

If you want your hickories to bear, you need a cultivator that's a hybrid hickory or a shagbark hickory. Pecans and hickories are similar, but I do not think one can pollinate the other. I'd have to do some research.

There's a hybrid tree called a hican, which is a cross between a hickory and a pecan, and that hybrid can be pollinated by native hickories or by pecan trees. The trick is having trees that shed pollen at the right time. Again, I'd need to read to find out what sheds when.

DH reminded me to use the correct terms: Bees are pollinators, since they move the pollen around. Other trees, those that shed the right kind of pollen at the right time, are cultivators. I'll keep it straight eventually.

POCO you are miles ahead of me on terminology! LOL. I can barely talk most days!

I over slept this morning so I feel like I am behind & haven't even got started.
