***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I bought a chick from Donnie @ poops last yr. He is bantam size with a small top knot & very nice feathered feet- with 5 toes. Everyone says he looks like he is wearing pants. Not sure if it was a cross of 2 birds that had feathered feet or not but he is a very pretty bird. He is the only roo we own that doesn't serve a purpose. However, he does have a steady lady. Everywhere she goes he follows. Think they are the only chickens I have that are an exclusive pair. There relationship is similar to the way my guineas run in pairs.

I vote for crossing the NN & Cochin to experiment.

I have already been to the chiropractor today, waiting now on he eye dr. Then to the dentist. What a fun day!

And thanks for setting my Fav eggs, too!! I think you should get the Surrogate Award

It's amazing how everyone feeds so different, I guess that would have to do with how your flock is.
I'm sure mine are pouting this morning since they didn't get any scratch on this cold wet morning. LOL.
Need to wash birds tonight, just have to figure out how to make that happen without them getting chilled!

Yea, well mine aren't real happy with me either. They were snarfing the corn and oats out of the GameCock feed and leaving all the rest and also not eating their Nutrena All Flock, they were getting big on the chicken version of potato chips. So I took up the GameCock and am making them eat the All Flock since it's the complete feed. It's taken 3 days but they finally realized there would be no GameCock forthcoming and are eating their AllFlock. That's why I wanted one of the GameCock rations that were already a complete feed. So I wouldn't have to worry about it if they ate one or the other. The feed store by me has been swearing for 3 wks he'd have the GameCock ration in from Stillwater but he hasn't. So I'm going to go ahead and get something else or drive to Shawnee or Luther.

He's giving Jay Leno a run for his money lately, isn't he??? lol

I want to go home and play with my little feather babies but instead I am at work with computer issues. We may have another day of work stand still because our computer system that prints vouchers is down.
On a brighter note, is Cowetta going to be worth the drive from the city? I mean I know it is a crap shoot everytime you go to an auction. We are mainly looking to buy chicks (hopefully some buff orphingtons and some barred rocks). Will they be letting folks smoke in the auction? I only ask because we went to Maude last week and wont go back anytime soon. They missed several peoples bids (one guy try as he might couldn't get the auctioner to acknowledge him 1/2 the time). And the smoke inside the building was aweful. So we will not be returning to any that allow smoking inside their buildings.
Cathie

Cathie, we quit smoking 3 1/2 yrs ago and I can't handle the smoke inside of an enclosed building anymore either. When I smoked I never even noticed it and thought people were just imagining it. Now it makes me sick the next day and I feel like I've been inside with car exhaust. I don't begrudge anyone their cigarettes because I smoked for 36 yrs and I know what it's like. But also even when I did smoke I didn't sit inside of an enclosed building and smoke, I went outside. There's more *considerate smokers out there than inconsiderate ones, it sounds like the Maude auction had more than its share of the *inconsiderate ones.

Cooking up a storm today, a big pot of split pea soup, cornbread (thick, sweet and dark

) lentils and rice for stuffed peppers, and probably some no bakes.

This is the first time I've ever bought ham hocks to add to the pea soup, I usually add lean ham cubes just a little bit before serving, but I thought the ham hocks might add better flavor, my those things have a ton of fat!!!!! I don't think it's in me to do that again, it will depend on the flavor, but it will have to be awesome for me to add that much needless fat again.

What kind? We have room for a few at our house.

old English game Bantams.. Some Golden Birchen males and likely a few others they will range from 4-8 weeks. Cockrells only at this time. I have to wait longer on the pullets. The Golden Birchen were an expected result of breeding but an undesired result. Better to give away bug eaters than raise them out.

Leno! Ha, I am not going there!

Kass that sounds wonderful! What a great day to fix split pea soup!

I need to come up with some new stuff to cook......getting boring around my house. Now things have to be quick & easy since soccer has started along with the end of show season.

Do you like Pasta? I tend to cook things slow most of the day like stuffed pork loin and other similar things.. But when I want a quick meal that will last a few days I will cook up some Penne or Rigatoni noodles, 1 lb of lean burger, 1 lb of mild italian sausage, 2 large cans of jars of Spagetti sauce. 2lbs of Mozarella cheese, and 1 lb of ricotta cheese, mix it all together bake for 30 minutes and place in fridge, its actually better the second day anyway.

I have a bunch of pasta dishes that I make, but like the Rigatomi, Penne, manacotti I like to prep them then freeze them makes a quick heat up eat and run.. I need to make some breakfast burritos for he freezer too. But too many things to do and not quite enough time to get any of them done. Might mae a roast in a crock pot today. I have to go play with kasyn (the grand daughter) she called me today to talk she is only 2 so wasn't much of a conversation.

Hi Carah! I'm doing well. Still on painkillers, but making good progress. I will be at the Pryor show and look forward to seeing you and others there!
