***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Been busy here today too. Beings wife is home, had her help me move the big brooder into the building I cleaned last week. Got it set up and chicks moved from tank to brooder, and got it set up for chicks from Carl tuesday.
After a few days in the stock tank it took the chicks a couple hours to get comfortable in their new home. After moved the brooder turned the egg layers out into my moms back yard for some fresh greens. I have been cleaning around here for as long as I have been moved back. I am now getting it to the point that the chickens will have several patches of good green vegitation. They had a blast.

Inquiring minds want to know--- what type of candled do you use Jarvis--- or anyone else.

I use a DeWalt flashlight with a DIY tapered end DH
Are to use to sit the eggs on. Been thinking of buying a real candler if there is one that is worth the money. The DeWalt works-- but even though we own 4 DeWalt flashlights someone always takes mine! If I bought a candler I doubt anyone would take it & forget where they used it last.

I use a Halogen Candler, sold under Brinsea as an Egg-lume. It works wonderfully.

Wow! I really might get at least 1 baby! Thank you for letting me know :) I'm really kind of surprised that out of 15 eggs counting the 3 I have here, 14 were fertile & at least at this point, are growing. That's pretty good odds for shipped eggs.

You don't need all those tools, I have a good tractor with a front laoder and soft soil.. Can't stand to watch a woman work too hard.
lol! We could probably talk Jim into doing the digging if we ask nice. After all-he's the one making us do this to him.

I had 12 shipped eggs in the incubator and then hatcher, and all but one devloped...only two have hatched? Any ideas what could cause the poor hatching?

you made me snicker. sort of laugh. well, haven't lost any to a gater, haven't seen any gator here in LA-de-state. ;) I'm fixing to move to SouthEastern Oklahoma.... It's still windy there.. Maybe not as bad as Western. I been to Altus.. real windy there....

They seem to get used to it. Bet they would rather deal w/ the wind even the Western OK wind then the gators!!!!!
