No, none are missing any feathers at all from his breeding, he has been an amazing roo, I was really nervous about a "hatchery boy" b/c of all the stories on here about how bad they are, but he has been awesome. I know on here hatchery is almost a dirty word, but all my chickens have been great, pretty, healthy, lay well, good personality, couldn't ask for anything else in a chicken.

hatchery is not a dirty word kass, unless you are showing your birds.

other than that hatchery birds are great, you can get the "look" you want, and a price you can live with.

whats bad is i buy pairs and trios from good breedersand end up spending less per bird than people do getting chicks and raising them. also a lot of times i get birds for less than auction prices, so when i give them away i dont lose that much!

ya know i could say something smart about disageeable women, but i wont.

i have old english in very small cages just big enough for breeding, and dont have a bit of trouble with it.

i have seen it in young roo's, and i have seen it in old roo's, i wish i could tell you why it happens. only thing i can say is overzelous roo's.

Only one hen in the flock has a bald spot on her head along with one on her back. She is Samson's favorite and he "chooses her company" several times a day. She stays right with him except when she is on the nest. To look at her, you would think she was going thru a serious molt. She is a healthy as a horse and lays an egg 6 days a week. Samson doesn't do this with any of the other girls.

Ksane, How many hens do you have with your Roo? I not of mine have missing feathers I have one Roo with very long spurs and he really don't seem very gentle but his girls are all fine even his favorites the same with my big B.O. Roo he is so large I worry how some of the hens like the smaller petite Minorca isn't hurt by him but they are all just fine,
Kass what kind are yours are they Americauna? and is that the same as an EE? I'm going to end up taking all the hens away from my production red Roo and I thought I might find him some replacements that won't be as big a deal to keep pure bred, I wonder if there is a better breed for that? I might just get mutts since he probably is a mutt anyway LOL He is a pretty bird though when esp when he has tail feathers he got them yanked out by a dog last fall they are just now starting to come back in well. I need to remember to ask Deanne what kind pullets those were that I got from her I really liked them and they had a color that I though was going to make pretty babies from Red.

They are EE's, amerucana's are specific colors that breed true, they were bred from the original EE's (quechua) brought to North America from South America during a world's fair in the 1920's. My girls all lay colored eggs mostly green or shades of aqua.

WOW Allbreeds, I thought I had alot of chicks!!! DH sooooo can't complain now, haha. I only have 32 out in the brooder in the feed house (they are all 4 weeks old) and then I have 32 in the house in 3 brooders (they are all a week old now). I am trying to maintain some self control and not buy any more until I see how our hatch rate is with our own eggs in a week and 3 days, lol.

You all are killing me with the chicks. I have one of my broodies sitting on eggs right now. They will be mutt chicks but sure to be cute of course that they will look even cuter once they have gone to the auction and my broodie is sitting on some project eggs.
