***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ya know, you're right. The chicken world needs us both. I *do wish I had what it takes to raise my own chickens for meat. To be able to feed them well and take good care of them and then give them a swift painless death before being able to eat them. It'd be the best of both worlds in a way. I don't know why I get so emotionally attached to things and animals. Heck,I don't get attached to people

I hope you get a hatch full of pullets for the Faverolles. Maybe between me and you we can get some of these Okies into Bantam Favs. I'm thinking I may have 1 Salmon boy and 1 Blue Salmon boy (or a dark girl). The Blue Salmon Fav boys are one of the most beautiful birds I've ever seen, right up there with Blue Wheaton Ameraucana roos.
I wish you all the luck in the world with your hatch.

Morning everyone, Not raining here right now but still very very wet! Expecting more later today. I am not complaining. Its been way too long without getting a good run off type rain event.

I know what you mean. I have to make a conscious effort not to get attached. That is why I don't have ANY pet birds. It is just easier to draw a strict line. I love chickens (that's why I raise them), but I have learned not to love PARTICULAR chickens. I have my dogs for that.

A big reason why I raise my own meat is because I love animals in general. I can't stand to think of them suffering, and it is my belief that is what happens in factory farm systems. I don't want to contribute to that, so I make the effort to avoid factory farmed meat, instead choosing to raise animals in the fresh air and on pasture. Further, I want to give people in my community access to the same sort of meat options.

If I didn't raise my own, or buy my meat from a local farm I know treats their animals well, I would have to become a vegetarian, and I don't know that I have the will power for that.

Catfish - yum!

WHOOP WHOOP CITY CLUCKS IS IN THE COOP!.. Gosh girl I have been thinking about you.. (Hey baby how u doin)..lol and each time I look at them canisters ya won at that Poops get together and then how you handed them to me I just sweel up with thanks... they are definatly well used for sure in my kitchen....

Okay, now I want to know what the right answer is? My first thought would be to apply pressure, but I don't know anything about saving anybody (better hope none of you ever get injured around me
lol.png
) I'll be the one dialing 911

Apply pressure and raise extremity, if not stopped apply more pressure and apply arterial point pressure medial to the injury (closer to the body then the laceration) as a last resort but before decompensated shock sets in apply the tq. And if it's military they have access to a cool stop bleeding bandage (quickclot) Some ems may have it, but we don't.

Oh my goodness this has been nearly a 5 month ordeal ... But its good now.. here in NY they have YOU hold onto the DEED of the House.. and first recording is 1936... even though the house was built in 1883... in 36 it was the first time the house was transfered to a new owner... its so neat to see this history before my eyes... course this house is full of history and neat findings since we moved in and starting getting a head start on cleaning it up...
