***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Ok, great! I have straw that we use for the garden so I can use that in the run. I also got some hen feed from the local garden store. I have read that they also like to eat kitchen scraps and broccoli. Can I post pics on here?

I used straw with my last flock, but I second Nanakat, I've been using shavings this time around and prefer it. We love pics here, more the better.

On the cats I would request a professional cleaning of the entire house prior to closing. And honestly that would be only if I fell in love with the house from the curb. More than likely I would walk out the minute I saw cats. Don't hate animals, but I am allergic to cats. It isn't worth the headache. My renters with cats pay an extra $15 a month per cat plus a $250 deposit, since I know I won't be able to go in & clean the house after they move out. Our nicer houses I won't even allow cats at all.
I forgot to report back in the fly bags I bought. They have a pheromone inside the bag, you add water hang the bag up & flies are attracted to it. The bag is working to attract flies well. I still have flies, but I only hung 1 bag up to start with. I will hang more bags this weekend. I ordered the bags online, but actually seen them at Walmart. They are about $5 a bag.

I use these kind of fly bags too, jcat - they work well but STINK! Plus they're really gross when it's time to get rid of them....but I use them anyway!

KatieCov - congrats on finding some Buff Orpingtons - they are beautiful and usually calmer than other breeds.

I got to meet johnorem today - he has two Barred Rocks that are at point of lay and he gave me a bag of layer pellets that they didn't like. I haven't offered any of that feed to my chickens yet so I can't judge whether his two girls are picky or just Divas Extraordinaire. I miss having Barred Rocks - they have so much personality.

Thanks John for showing me your wonderful little JRTs, your wonderful yard with all the plants and your two girls. I'll bet you had to glue your ears back on after I left - I talked them off!

Okie ridge -the guinea that pipped first didn't make it. However the little white one already knows he is a guinea. He wakes up & paces back in forth in window.

We just sat 52 guinea eggs in the incubator!!!! This will be the hatch that DD will have for poops. I have no guess on fertility or colors yet but fingers crossed DD will be bringing a few dz keets to share with those who have been wanting them. Think this next wk will be the last chicken eggs we set. Incubator space is becoming scarce, and that is with running 2 cabinet incubators & the brinsea!

I've had chickens for 2 years now and I love them. Folks here are great. There are alot of kind and very knowledgable people that are glad to share all things chicken.
