***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Lynn - have you had any drop dead yet? We did okay till we hit 12-14 weeks, then we had two drop dead, we were behind on processing cause we only did a few at a time since we were hand plucking.

Found the camera, judging from the pics it looks like the 5 year old had it last

Here's my little duck, go figure, I'm glad I didn't toss him just cause he was behind!

I meant to say I got the meat grinder for $2 not 42 !lol it wouldn't let me go back and edit it. I don't know why these things are so cheap,I guess no one uses them anymore. I love them to grind garden waste up for my birds! They will eat things they wouldn't normaly touch when its bite size to them!
I also got a flat of 12- 4 inch pots of red wave petunias for $5 . I felt that was a real bargain.
Well I hear bed calling so will catch you all later. Sleep safe and in God's arms.

I am glad you took the time to correct the price on your meat grinder. I was going to offer to sell you a handful for much less than $42 each if you thought that was a bargain price.

Those are something I can't resist buying when they are really cheap and in good shape. I never thought about using them to grind scraps for the chickens. I just have fond memories of grinding cranberries for the annual Thanksgiving jello salad with them. Of course, I probably don't need more than one to do that.

Your petunias were a great bargain.

Jamie is home but had to leave baby lily.I also wanted. To let everyone know Newcastle auction will start 5pm.from now on.the big poultry will start no later then 7pm!!!!! So please pass the word.I think this will help everyone in the longrun.

Glad to hear that Jamie is home. She will rest much better there, even though she is undoubtedly concerned about Lily. My sister was a Neo-Natal nurse at a hospital in San Antonio for 25 years. The nurses caring for the babies are very specialized and will take wonderful care of Lily.

Thank you for the update on the earlier start time for the Newcastle auction. It is wonderful that it has grown large enough to need to start earlier. I enjoy attending the Newcastle auction.

Well my little guinea keets are settled in the brooder, your right Christina they do trill like a cricket, lol. They are so tiny compared to my 4 day old BCM chicks, lol.

Headed to bed I have my alarm set for 2:30 to get up and check the weather. Hubby said I kept kicking him last night when the weather radio went off, I don't even remember hearing it go off, lol.

Praying for all our okies in Woodward they got hit hard from the looks of it.

When I went to bed last night after the high winds came through, the NEXT wave of weather was predicted to come through OKC around 4:00 am. It wasn't off by much and the thunder woke me up. We got up to see if there were still tornadoes with it and went back to bed when the TV said the storm had weakened. The trees sure are a bright green this morning. Well watered with no dust on the leaves.

Have not had any drop dead yet, but those 4 were the 1st ones we bought, they were walking funny, like they could hardly get around, took a few steps, then plopped down, they had been penned up for part of the time. The 2nd bunch heve not been confined to a pen and have been out foraging with the rest of the birds, they seem to be doing much better, they flap their wings and sort of try to fly. Let DH or myself go out to the shed and get a feed bucket, you can hear them right behind you, makes me wonder what would happen if I ended up on the ground and they were real hungry. lol

hope i get to stay!
Yea! Great to see you :))

Been petting the turkey poults that hatched out last tuesday, they like to snuggle up under my chin and in my hair, it's all good until they poop on me, hope that the petting and snuggling them makes them tamer than the adult turkeys ( got the adults at a sale, they were about 6 months old ), they have started chirping loudly off and on during the day, when I talk to them the quieten down. Any other suggestion to make them more people friendly ?
i think that is as broad hint Mitzi!!

I didn't mean it as a hint, I swear! I just meant if someone wanted him to let me know before I put him on CraigsList. Cathie, if you want him that's fine by me. Do you want me to try to place him on CraigsList 1st?

I got my yearly blood test results back this week. I was very interested to see my cholesterol level since this year I have been eating many, many more eggs then has been normal for me, especially w/ my new custard additction. My overall cholesterol is basically the same as it has been and my ratio (good to bad) is actually a little better. So I can't speak globally for everyone, but for me a year of eating eggs daily (and sometimes multiple times a day) has had no negative cholesterol consequences ............................................... so ............................................. bring on the custard and whipped cream!!!!!!

something i do with my waterbirds is to get a gallon milk jug and cut a hole in the side big enough for them to get their heads in and play with it since they need it deep enough to wash their beaks, but limits the splash zone- i always hate tossing any hatching eggs in case somebody is in there
