TOTAL __________ 111

OK we can not have to many more of these "no auction" weekends! I work to hard on the off weekends without an auction to go to.
DH remarked earlier today that he missed not having an auction this weekend! I wondered what is on TV Saturday nights?
We did way too much yardwork today. Our house sits on a corner and we built a new planting bed surrounded by rocks that we got in trade for chicken compost. Moved alot of nice compost to the perrenials around the house too. I can hardly move. Got a bit more to plant and compost tomorrow. TLC was having a big sale, dollor off gallon perrenials.
I will put up some pics of the finished beds tomorrow.

I have a question. Who washes there eggs as soon as they gather them? Should I be washing them before use or as soon as I bring them in the house? I have read that they have a natural coating on them that helps keep them fresher. Just curious what everybody thinks.

i only wash mine if they are super nasty.

some people wash all their eggs befo`re they hatch, or before the put them in the fridge.

i'm not sure what is right and what isnt, i just do what works for me.

I sell eggs so wash them before I put them into the carton. I don't wash them immediately upon collection because I feel like the cuticle/covering on the egg keeps bacteria from going into the shell and don't want to remove that protection until the eggs are ready to sell.

On the same topic, does anyone have thoughts on the topic of leaving eggs at room temperature? I have heard that if you haven't washed the eggs they can be left at room temperature for a week or more without deterioration. I wonder how the egg quality is affected - whether the yolk stays round and plump or if it flattens out when broken into a pan. Also, any thought on whether refrigerating the egg starts some kind of chemical process such that the eggs have to then remain refrigerated in order to keep from deteriorating?

I think I will start just washing them right before I use them. I will wash them if giving them away. I would think eggs would be fine at room temperature for at least a few days.
