Thank you for the directions! That helps bunches!
Quote: Cool, a map! Thanks Bill!
I'll bring lawn chairs, too. Not sure how many I have but I'm sure they need to be cleaned off. I'll bring extras if I have any.
About two years ago we were being overrun with eastern hognose snakes. When those things flare their necks it freaks me out. Ok Ok Whenever I see any snake it freaks me out. Well we were getting them every other day it seemed. I happened to mention it to someone in the feed store and an older gentlemen there asked me what we were doing with them. I told him throwing them on the burn pile. He told me that when a snake dies it gives off pheromones that call up other snakes. We buried the next one we found a day later and did not have any more that summer! Have no idea if this is true or not but it sure worked for us! ON a side note, my kiddos killed a snake out in the pasture and thought it was funny to throw it up near the neighbors place. I kept wondering what they were shooting everyday. I called and found out there were snakes all over all of a sudden. My kids starting laughing like crazy! Yes, I made them go over and take care of it.I am sure it is a bull snake. We kill at least one a wk all summer long. They are drawn to me it seems.
Asked DH to build a different frame for the brooders where we could put some metal window screen around the entire frame. Maybe that will help some.
Bill I was looking the other day @ some minnow traps made out of kitty litter buckets. Wonder how many minnow traps it would take to slow down our snake population.
"Call it a rope! Say 'Grab the rope!'"
I am making my homemade BBQ sauce for POOPS tomorrow. The house smells soooo good!
Having a serious problem with someone stealing my eggs. I have always had a problem with it, but they are really wiping me out to the tune of around 2 dozen a day right now.
When I get a day off of work and my vehicle is parked here, I don't lose any eggs, so I get lots of eggs on the weekends and days that I am off of work. Bad part is, if they are in need of food, I would gladly give them eggs for free if they would ask, but what I think is happening is my neighbor is sending his kids in to steal the eggs then he sells them to buy the ingredients he needs to make meth. I am a police officer so I can't begin to explain to you how frustrating this is. I'm gonna have to set some kind of surveillance up I guess to see what I can find out.
Quote: LOL Not true in any way, the hog nose snakes are completely harmless they usually eat only frogs and or toads a few other things, the ones bred in captivity are conditioned to eat mice but that's not the natural food for them
Looks like the last two guinea eggs are not going to hatch. I'm going to give them one more day, just in case they are late bloomers. Here are the five that hatched on time. They were snoozing when I set the camera on the floor of the brooder, but the noise of moving the water dish out of the way woke them. You can't really see the white-winged keet. I hope it turns out to be a girl.
