A couple of pics from yesterday, then I need to go do some work!!!! lol

I have several girls to develop this swept back feather doo. I love it.
Kinda reminds me of the "D A" style hair cuts back in the 50's. Ooops,

Anyone else old enuf to remember them?

Coral those chicks are going to cause a bidding frenzy! How many months did it take for them to arrive after you ordered them?

Mitzi, you have sand in your brooder right? What about the feeders? is one soaked & the other dry feed? Putting all the chicks together will save you lots of work! multiple brooders can take hours to tend too each day. I think I spent 5 hours of chicken chores on Monday. Most days don't take 5 hours, but at least once a wk we seem to have an all day chicken chore day. By the end of next wk we will be 100% out of brooder space. Unless someone gets creative Taron will have to put a pause on chick acquiring. We need to have a serious chick counting day since I think I am the only one who realizes my daughter is a poultry hoarder.

Carla you should post of list of what breeds yall have for sale (and a guess of how many). I am sure if everyone knew what yall still had then that would help us all know what we are missing.

Doodle you can still go to the sales even if you don't acquire birds, it is a good social outing, if birds follow you home it won't be your fault.

I called Porter Hill Auction & left a voice mail, still haven't heard if they are having the auction. They are having a misc auction this Friday & the 1st Friday in June-- I got their flyer in the mail today.

Tomorrow is awards day at school, then summer officially begins for both girls. The bickering is already going into overtime. Was looking today for plane tickets to let the girls both have separate time at grandmas. Tickets were $500 each. So I am thinking for a grand I can find another way to get them to be nice to each other.
OHHH! My mothers day present finally arrived today. So with time & practice my chicken photos should improve. Got a Nikon d5100 plus a few lenses & filters. Hopefully I can master the basics of my new camera soon and stop sharing pics I take with my awful iPhone camera.
Good night all!

Yes, I use sand. Mostly when they're real little because they eat everything. And yes-one is their dry crumbles and twice a day I give them their "wet mash" (they call it). They love that stuff.
Awesome camera!
And Carla, don't know if you got my PM awhile back but I do still want some Spitzhauben.

Well then, we have many months to go.....I'll let you know.

Cute legbars and Wayne, you can't give up the social time too.

Love the cream Legbars.

I'm confused about the problem with the mixed barred birds. I thought any barred females could be used for creating BSLs. Don't see why you can't use the mixes along with BRs, Doms & Cuckoos. Do they not have something genetic that the others have that they would need?

good morning to all yal okies. Perfect day for coffee and letting the flock out and about. keeping my lil ones in there run till they get a bit bigger. Dont want them being hawk candy! here are a few pics of some of my other critters.
this is frizzilla.

this is a new baby that i think is cochin? not sure what final colors will be but im excited to see!

As for this one i have no clue what it could be?

chillie has now gotten to where he hangs on the patio cute but messy if you know what i mean.

"She is ameraucana or easter egger. The green legs give it away and the chick coloring fits."

Well, that's kind of a bummer. I sold all my Americaunas earlier this year because I didn't care for their personalities. I didn't think about this one possibly being one since she doesn't have the "fluffy face" my other ones did. I really like her coloring so far, though, and maybe she'll turn out to be a bit calmer than the others were. One can only hope. I guess if nothing else, she can be a free range chicken.......

morning okies- dawned on me yesterday, i have 4 broodies due to hatch eggs next week, so what is the best way to isolate them? seperate cages for each?? i spread out the eggs so they each have a couple.... and yesterday it got pretty warm in the shed- felt so sorry for them!

Oh no they will work but I was really wanting some pretty barred rocks. I just love the barring on the nice ones, I am now looking at the dominques, lol. Hubby says no more hatching eggs until after July (but I am setting my last batch tomorrow night so if I find some before then, look out! LOL). I figure it will be fall before I find what I want. I am fine with that. It isn't like I am short on birds at all at the moment. We have way to many pens full of birds. I am going to take some to the sale on friday at Harrah if I can find the contact info for them to call.
