***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Yeah, I read on another site it isn't GM grass. Apparently the reporter dosen't know the difference between genetically modified and a simple old fashioned hybrid.

Still kinda scary, though.

I was trying to figure out how it happened, and another article http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=htt...h_tifton_85_bermudagrass.8781.sls&h=mAQG4mSIu talked about the non-Bermuda parent grass. Apparently stargrass can do that, but usually not under circumstances such as these were. Really scary.

Quote: Even Sudan will make cyanide if it is fertilized and baled too quickly. Roger said he bet the guy fertilized it too soon during the drought recovery and there wa no way for the soil/grass to process the fertilizer...There is a lot of Tifton 85 here in Oklahoma.

Anyone who grows luffa, when do I pick it???
Depends on if you are going to make loofa sponges. For the sponge, I simply let it grow and it would dry on the vine.

Okay, sorry :p still scary!

Nana - They also said there are other pastures in TX that are producing small amounts, just not enough to effect the cattle. Not sure if it was that article or one of the others I read on it.

Sorry to hear about your loss. We just bought a spray nozel for our hose with a mist function on it. I think they were about $4 at Wal Mart. Then we rigged it in the fencing. They all seemed to really like it today. The turkeys would go and get wet and then lay in the shade until they were hot and go get wet again. I hope your mister hose works for you. Post some pics.

Well we made it through the hot hot hot day ... only to find that tomorrow is supposed to be hotter still. Heat index was 125 today!

The birds didn't seem to mind much but their yard is covered by a huge pecan tree for most of the day and we hung a tarp for shade late in the afternoon. They relished the frozen peas I gave them. Guess I'll do that again tomorrow as well. Tomatoes bit the dust. I've gotten some off of them, enough to do a little canning and make salsa but no where near the 50 + lbs I got last year. Stay cool everyone.
