Whenever I do garden work in the summer I always do it w/ a hose, makes it so much more comfortable.

I have 5 boys that need to be sent to freezer camp. It will be my first to do w/o any ulterier motives (culling for injury) it is going to test my resolve to do it to perfectly healthy boys. But at least I have a couple under my belt now.

We'll be pulling for you! Too bad you aren't closer, you could use my plucker.

Understand, it will be hard to do the deed at first, but it will get easier as time goes one. And that wondeful taste will make you forget the trauma!

Good luck!

Jcatblum - thank you for the information about a "deal" on Groupon for a good price on Vista Printing. I never realized that you could do essentially a nationwide Groupon review - so never would have found that Vista Printing deal in the Chicago Groupons.

Ditto on that! I had never heard of Groupon or Vista Printing, and she walked me through the whole deal. Hats off to jcatblum!

And it was good seeing you too, Maribeth. And OKRacefan was there, too, although we didn't get to chat.

It was nice to meet Ellie Mae, however briefly as we were packing our spoils in preparation for departure.

I bought way too many birds!

Nana, thanks for the heads up on the restauarnt auction. It is a long way from me, but I'm still trying to figure out a way to go in the middle of a busy work week. What's more, a friend is trying to get me to go. He owns a store, and wants me to pick up some equipment for him.

Want to thank Mike D. for pointing me toward some good birds, and trying to warn me away from the not so good. Thanks, Mike! I need to apprentice with you one of these days, be your lackey so you can teach me the ropes. 4 years of going to chicken auctions and I still don't have it figured out!

Mitzi I took a few pic's this evening, out of all the ones I have from around the same hatch as yours I think all are pullets but one, I have more cockerels in the other hatches I think, but, this set is the oldest I have left and looks to me like it's getting easy to tell them apart but I could be wrong LOL

Cockerel left Pullet right
I loved all the pictures, Bill-thank you :)
But it certainly doesn't make it any easier to sex the 2 Orps I've got. I figured since they're the size of Cochins and both have single combs they'd be as easy as Cochins to sex. Nope.
I'm still leaning towards one of each, which would be better than 2 boys.
Great Hog Habitat!

I just had to give this a try I'd been feeding and watering then decided to try a video clip and made several this is the first one I ever uploaded to YouTube I hate that you can hear me being out of breath LOL and I don't like the sound of my own voice when it's recorded, anyway this is an introduction to my Buff Orpingtons and other squatters staying with them for now...

Hope you enjoyed it, I found it was a blast to make but need a better camera and someone else filming LOL

I don't think in all these years I have ever seen a columbian Wyandotte. For years all I ever saw was silver laced and white in LF. I used to have columbian bantam Wyandottes many years ago. Did you ever show them and how did they do for you.
we did show and continue to just re-focused to solely bantams drastically cut the feed bill and no more waiting 2 years to pick breeder birds. We selected hard for size, type, feather quality and laying traits. Longeveity of lay and winter laying habits as well. We sold out this past spring and Nanakat has the breeders as well as several of the better young birds.
The columbian pattern is a beautifull bird to me but can be a real excersize in patients waiting for the pullets color to get finalized.

Good morning friends and neighbors! Hope y`all received some of that beneficial rain yesterday.....a chance for more today. I went down to my barn yesterday and inspected my pens, they are in great shape and ready for some birds when the weather cools off some.

I got a late start but here is the first bloom on my Sugar Baby Watermelons......

Good morning all, was so nice early this morning, I was so grateful for my helpers yesterday, but should have went out and double checked everything, I had chickens out this morning due to a gate not chained back like we do it, also had a feed shed full of kittens because the doors were left open!!! Maybe they caught all the mice though!!! The chickens went right back in so no problem and I think they were all there! Ksane you should see the blue boy I got from you , he is gorgeous, has a silver cream color on his back over blue, I have three pullets picked out to put with him already, but I have to see what Heather wants to breed to him first cause she has claimed him!!! I pray the rain makes it here today!!! Have a great day all!!! Lynn
