***OKIES in the BYC III ***

There were 70's?? May be that I remember hearing about something like that

The tech that did that CT scan said she's had both and the stones were the worst, It was a rough night and a tough morning I stayed home I figured the convicts might think me weak if they saw me writhing on the floor and crying "NOt! that I did that of course" (in my deepest macho voice) (but it could have happened) The meds they gave me helped but the whole experiance has changed my opinion about hard narcotics, I think it might have passed

I'm feeling almost normal again I do take vit-D and some other supplements and I drink a lot of water since I gave up soda pop, I don't drink coffee in the summer and have some tea once in a while, but I will be looking into what ever it takes to reduce the chance that I ever have another one of those things,
I'm pretty sure the thing had to have been made of a golf ball, a broken pop bottle, some rusty nails and a very ripe habanero pepper

I'm showing it to be 112 outside just now and a high of 114 a little while ago, Make you wonder of people in Africa ever say "Man it's Oklahoma Hot out there!!"
Hope everyone is staying safe out there in this heat

Cathie not sure what you have for eye coverage. We only get annual eye exams, everything else is out of pocket (DH gets 1 pr of ugly glasses). We order Tarons glasses @ http://www.zennioptical.com/. She usually gets 8 or 10 pr at a time. The cheapest ones she gets are $10-$12 think the most expensive ones were $30. The average price for her "style" is $20. She has glasses in every color & if they break I don't feel bad. I have been ordering them for the past 3yrs. In Feb this yr DH said we should get her some "nice" glasses. Spent $300 on 2 pr. Both have been replaced twice & she hardly ever wears them since she has so many others. She said she prefers ordering them online. You can even upload your pic & try on glasses on their site.

Mitzi I am going to use the forecast on my phone, it looks nicer than the one you have.

Bill hope you pass those stones soon!

Alexis moved the Langshans into general population, she keeps telling me they are really happy now, so guess the barn coop is cooler than the coop they were in.

rofl!!! My husband always uses the phrase "Africa hot". Now we're hotter than them!
Robin, birds can't get asthma because they have air sacs to breath with and not lungs. They do get airsaculitis which is probably about the same thing but it's almost always attributed to MG or one of the chronic respiratory diseases. When a bird has MG or CRD they come down with it at various times when stressed and the rest of the time they're seemingly fine. You can give Denagardor Tylan 50 injections when they're showing signs. It's very possible this horrible heat has stressed your girl enough that she's showing signs of it now,
Hha! Can you tell I read about bird diseases only cuz it's so interesting to me?? If I could've afforded to go to college I'd have probably been a vet :)

OH THANK YOU!!!!!! I am going to look at their site. I called the eye dr but they couldn't find Jennifer's records to even know what glasses she got! Grrrrr. I will be calling them back tomorrow to get her RX so we can order online! That will save me big $$$ Our insurance only pays for one pair every two years and new lenses every year. So this will be great!

It seems to take about 2 wks for our glasses to come, but well worth the wait. Plus if we ever loose nose pieces any eye glass place has been happy to fix them. If the prescription doesn't list the PD google it & it is easy to measure yourself. I am sure you could leave the kids @ the computer & they could work on their wish list. There are hundreds of pairs to choose from!

haven't lost any yet- but am having refugees in the house when i think they are critical- dunking bird, spraying yards, carting ice- sheesh

well, this little pullet kind of reminds me of someone with asthma.... do chickens get asthma?
They get chronic respiratory disease, it's contagious always, it can't be cured, and they'll keep getting sick any time they're stressed. It can be treated so they don't show symptoms, but they still have it and can still give it to other birds.

Well our casualty count has gone up to 1 chick and 5 adult birds for today!!! I lived half my life in Texas and I don't remember it this hot down there in July and August, and I can remember hauling hay into the tops of barns that you could bake potatoes in the top of!!! was talking to a friend this morning while I waited the two hours it took to get Dakota enrolled in school, he said a couple days ago he had collected a couple eggs and laid them in a wheel barrow and for got them, when he found them two days later then he threw them on the ground for the birds to eat and they were soft boiled looking!! That is hot!!! Stay cool!! Lynn

Wouldn't wish kidney stones on my worst enemy...if I had any....enemies that is. Kidney stones were the worst. Haven't had any this year...knock on wood...since my doctor said to always drink water and put lemon in it.

Off subject but I had to share this from another forum I am on, I found it refreshingly rewarding!
Greetings,
My chlestorol really improved when I bought a dairy cow. She only eats
forage, no grains. I have always had familial chlesterol, so my overall
numbers were close to 400, the ratio of bad to good, was not good.
After drinking lots of raw milk, eat lots of raw milk cheese, icecream,
butter etc my overall number was down to 235 and the ratio of good to
bad was perfect. Worked for me, and helped me beat cancer, I love my cow.

Bright Blessings,

We have a fruit market in Shawnee that now sells whole milk (pasteurized at 145 degrees so not to damage the milk fats) It is $8 a gallon and usually has about 1 quart of cream for making butter.
Have seen some ads on Craigslist for fresh whole milk ...one ad was for $4 a gallon.

Yogurt made from goatsmilk is delicious!

Came home early today to spend time with the kids, got outside and made sure all waterers are full of cool water and let the guinea babies out of the hoop house. It is just to hot I feel like they have a better chance of staying cool if I let them out during the day. I put a small sprinkler out for my smallest guinea babies and the CWs. My CW roo is feeling better so hoping this helps him stay cooler.

Everyone please stay in when you can. It is just to hot out there. I have the soaker hoses on almost continually for the garden right now. I probably will loose 3 rose bushes plus the roses I got at POOPS. We have been watering but I think it is just so hot outside they can't take it. I have the sprinkler going for the trees in the front of the house and it is hitting the suburban. The suburban is DRY by time the sprinkler comes by again!
The Seven Sisters rose from me can take the heat as long as it gets a little water. It will go dormant and lose it's the coop they were in.

We reached 117.8 today.
I've been watering at night.....setting a hose with a steady drip at the base of a special tree or shrub and letting it drip all night. Less evaporation that way and the soak gets to the deeper roots. May still lose some trees we planted when we bought the place 15 years ago.
Have also started keeping an ice cream bucket in the sink for when I'm rinsing veggies, hands or dishes. The water goes into a 3 gallon bucket that I take out and pour on plants on the deck or in the flower beds. It's amazing how much water goes down the drain.
When I was a girl in the 60s, my Mom would syphon our bath water out the bathroom window onto the garden every evening. (Yes Bill there were 60s!

Well, shoot. We don't care for leghorns and the clipped beaks on top of that...

I thought from the pics they would be white egg layers. Those don't set well with my customers. We'll have to think hard on it. Did they say when they would be available, Mike?

Well, we thinked on it and decided to give 'em a go. Picking up 100 next week, plus some for friends. Those prices at that age are just too good to pass up, white eggs or no.
