***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Wait just read the last 50 some posts - and I know I just never post like I should. But I have nothing compared to most of y'all - but I noticed someone said there was another preacher at the auctions round here - who is it?

Blanchard auction I lost almost everything I bid on. Had some friends with me who wanted a goose so bid till I won that. Took all the seramas home - and really enjoyed the night over all

Can't recall his name... But you should be able to spot him. He has light colored hair, wears khakis & short shelve button up shirts often, but I have seen him dressed more casually once. Has lots of kids, they homeschool. His wife & girls wear skirts. Look like an average homeschool family. Don't think they live in Blanchard, but they live close. I am sure you will see him at an upcoming sale. He is a nice guy.

WOW catching up with the last 4 days took me almost an hour! LOL We got pens put up and tops on them, just one little pen of Kurt's is waiting for us to finish the top of it. The birds are loving having their new yards. The two new yards are about 1/4 acre each and it is amazing how fast they have eaten the tall grasses down already! I will have to look into the deer feeder seed to plant in areas. I could fence off a corner in each pen to grow them up then move the corner each time. One pen now has access to our compost pile, that pen spends almost their entire day in the pile, lol.

MJ Thank you so much for the little hens! Kurt spent most of yesterday doting on them. He said two laid eggs yesterday and one little hen insists on sitting them. Tried to bite him when he went to get the eggs, lol. He said he was just going to let her keep them. We will see how serious she is about it I guess.

Betty, I guess Kurt has at least two hens (still praying there are 3 with one roo, lol) we found our first two silkie eggs this weekend! He was thrilled!

Nathanael spent time this weekend cleaning out his pens and then all by himself sprayed them with pinesol then oxine letting them dry out while his birds enjoyed time on the grass in the shade. He then put new pine shavings in and this next weekend we will give all his birds baths. He has two he got from poops not acting right I hope they are okay. He has slowly lost them one by one to illness or heat. I put electrolytes in their water yesterday and hope they are doing better today. They are just acting sluggish and stuble a bit when they walk. But are eating and drinking just fine. But his show birds are looking great! He can't wait to show in fact he is checking the mail box daily for his information on entering the Newcastle show.

Jackson well he is thrilled just to sit in his grow out pen with his little chicks and talk to them. It is funny how they know he has treats for them everytime he goes in there!

Christina hope your feeling better soon, It is never good for momma to be down! We had 3 guineas hatch this weekend (almost 1/2 a week early) and two of them are completely white! They look like little white puff balls, lol. Still waiting on the rest to hatch, supposed to hatch tomorrow so not sure if we will have more hatch out or not. In our experience if I have any hatch early, any that are going to hatch will hatch then. I will candle Wednesday to see if any are still viable.

Hopefully these cooler temps stick around. We are down to getting about 8-12 eggs a day, when we should be getting at least 4 times that. Plus it is has been so nice to open the windows and not run the AC in the house.

I have seen him and I know just who you are talking about - spoke to him before but never much and had no idea he was a preacher. I pastor a church here in Blanchard and enjoy it. But I don't look like a preacher I am told - I always have my son with me and the last two times my fil also.

hey guys!

I have bad news, My favorite chicken died on Saturday. His name was Blindy, it was the rooster that I have been postng pictures of. I feel so depressed, I never thought that I could get so attached to a chicken, and feel so sad when losing it. I literally cried for a whole day.Im atleadt thankful that I have his body to bury, rather than him missing because a coyote came and got him for dinner. He was under the car, and my father didnt think to look under the car before driving off, well. Blindy got smashed. I feel so horrible. I feel like I failed him. Im sorry if I sound silly guys, but I am really depressed over this. Almost to the point where I want to give up my chicken hobby.
Thank you for listening Okie friends, means alot.

Let's see if I can post this without cursing. I am so ticked at my stupid neighbors. I was sitting out with my chickens this morning and I heard one of their chickens screaching. At first I thought maybe two of them were fighting but all my girls stood up straight so I assumed she was really hurt. I run over and their dog is attacking their chicken. Keep in mind their dog killed some of mine a few short weeks ago. I go running and yelling and the dog runs towards their home. I ran in and called her and told her that her dog was attacking their chicken and she says "Oh no! Thanks, bye". I stay out there with her chicken since it's in the corner where I can see it and does anyone come outside? No. I assume she let the dog inside because it was gone. I finally had to go to work so I left the chicken in the corner. It didn't look like it had much damage, just was in shock and wouldn't move. I never did see their other two chickens though I looked for them.

I come home three hours later and go to check on the chicken and notice as I'm walking back that there are feathers all over the yard. I find the chicken in the corner but this time it is missing a LOT of feathers. What the hell is wrong with these people? You let the dog back outside?? You didn't put the chicken up? You didn't even check on it? I'm so steaming mad! I still can't find their other two chickens. I know there was a black one there yesterday and I haven't seen the barred rock in a while but I don't always go looking at their chickens. They did put up an electric fence to keep their dogs from getting my chickens so I can't just hop the fence and get the poor girl. I wonder if they would even care if I did.

We live in the city in a neighborhood so it's not like they have a ton and wouldn't miss her, and I know they don't eat them, they only had three! These were pets. How can you be so cruel as to let that dog out knowing it was attacking her? My blood is boiling!
