***OKIES in the BYC III ***

We lost our silkie hen today. She passed an egg & her organs as well. I have had a guinea hen do the same once but I believe it was her first egg ever. The silkie hen has laid many eggs & raised lots of babies so I was surprised. Poor Taron was sad because the silkie is the only one we had & such a good momma so of course she is a favorite! Not sure if we will look for another silkie. We have been trying to consolidate birds & the silkie hen was considered "high maintance". She liked having her own space & didn't intermingle with others ---except her babies of course. Always sad to loose a bird with such personality.

Love the NN babies! And the favs!

Sorry about your silkie

Here's my broody momma with her 4 little Swedish Flower babies! They hatched on Saturday morning.

Here is where my Black Sex Link keeps laying her egg.

That would be in our shed and a crate of records

jcat - Sorry about your silkie ... but ew. I've had kittens born that way or who's mommas lick them wrong and pull out their innards. It's so sad.

Kass - love the babies. The look on that NN girls face is priceless ... and a little scary.

Well, almost got the compost pile completely moved today. It got warm though so we quit for a break but before we could get back to it one of our rabbits escaped and we spent an hour and a half chasing it all over the neighborhood. Sheesh!! So, hopefully we'll get it done tomorrow. I woke this morning in a panic because the post office didn't call us to pick up the birds ... and then my husband rolled over and reminded me it was only Wednesday. I still can't get my head around it. I've thought it was Thursday all day so my mind thinks tomorrow is Friday and payday but it's not. Ugh. Just ready for this week to be over.

Quote: You will be gald of that fence, i keep having to use scraps, real frustrating...
Some new pics of the chicks

The darker NN, his name is Jaxom (any McCaffrey fans?) b/c he needed help hatching and the first day of life.

The lighter NN, hopefully a girl. This pic says it all about her, she came to rule the world. Seriously
beautiful, and that Jaxom is stunning! Yep, have read all of the dragon series

spent the day getting the banty coop reinforced, they are so funny, changed the door and they couldn't figure out to use the other side, and set up a duck enclosure- am beat!

this is one of the young slkies- what color would he be considered?

She is my favorite author, I believe I have read all of her and her son's books. (that's a lot) You did know she passed this year?

Christie...sorry to hear about Taron's silkie.

Oh I am so sorry! If she wants eggs let me know. Kurt's silkies he got at POOPS are laying now so we could always get her some eggs when she is ready to have another one.
