***OKIES in the BYC III ***

MacG that is a sad looking silkie at the moment. I would be very concerned if I hadnt seen the bird in person at poops! At least you know she will be pretty again very soon.

Thanks for the kind words on the loss of our buck. We definatly will not allow any stray dogs on our place, and I am guessing DD will want a few more goats in time. She is pretty upset tonight, because she saw it all & of course he was her favorite goat.

OMG, I feel horrible for Taron :-(((((((
To have to see it would give an *adult nightmares. God, that's horrible.

I do like the color of those Swedish Flower Hens, they're colored similar to my Orloffs.

Have finally caught up on the thread and sure enjoyed all the pictures! sorry to hear about the goat loss. Strays Dogs get a bad enough rap, then to have one go renegade is sad.
After taking stock of the flock this morning since my absence, we have some losses due to rain and quickly cooler weather. Lost five cccccbirds...one was LilGuy, the d'Anvers roo from Bob Bridges. On the good side of it is the Bantams are laying and will gather enough this week to put some in the incubator. Then AnnaBelle was sitting on eggs due to hatch tomorrow , but they began hatching today. She has four chicks and I have three later zippers in the hatcher to dry out. Will add them in the morning. The geese were fine but needed extra hay in their hut for warmth. Hubby harvestd some of the sweet potatoes..some literally as big as footballs.

Sick chickens been giving the antibiotics for two rounds now and they r still not better. I think the second picture is molting.v We have three with matted feathers around neck and upper wing area and they sleep with their heads inthe matted feathers. And they dont act right sometimes it sounds like they r growling. Any feedback ?

Mitzi I agree farm life has come with some hard lessons for the kids. They definatly experience things they would never experience in town. I ment to say early, I am not the busy one. I can only do so much because my kids & husband are always there to help.

Nana glad you made it home safe. The birds always look new to me after not seeing them for a few days. Is your garden gone? The frost took out everything here.

Rebecca what type of antibiotics did you use to treat the birds? This past yr I have been treating water with Gallimycin when needed & have had great sucess. It knocked out stuff that Tylan50 didn't.

Those of you that raise roaches---- just was reading a news story about a guy in FL (I think) that died after a roach eating contest at a pet store. The prize was a snake. None of the other contestants became ill. Craziness!!
