Carla, I lost all but one of mine, have some sweetgrass and sweetgrass cross eggs in the bator right now, will wait and see how they turn out, but I would like some Slate Blue and Royal Palms, the one I have left is a cros of SB and RP from doubleostud, it is in with a couple of my bigger Delaware chicks now for company, Lynn

There has got to have been a minimum of 500 to a thousand rabbits go thru the sale. I'm so tired of rabbits! And they keep bringing more thru

Oh and I saw the post that BethinOklahoma had regarding some negative ad on craigslist about the auction. I really think it is a rival auctioneer that posted it. We've gotten checks from Jerry & Misti on many occasions and never had a problem. They are good people

Al, I really want to get me a big greanhouse put up, say 30'x50', so I can raise some tomatoes, Banana trees and some Talopia fish through the winter, I found a steel frame I can buy for $100 dollars but can't aford the cover yet, was thinking of using used windows that I have and used patio doors for the south end and sides up to 6 or 8 foot tall and then use regular visqueen or I found a site to get the white heavy vinyl billboard covers reasonable, to use for the front top and the back 20' cover with tin and the north wall, what you think??? Lynn

Thats sounds very reasonable, looks like a plan to me. I think TJ's na-na has a green house set up.

Lynn when mom and dad had a little market garden they did it on 1/2 an acre. Mom would can quite a bit out of the garden but they still sold a bunch too. Dad had an Earthway seeder that you pushed and you could put in a 100 foot row just as fast as you could walk down it. He used post hole diggers to plant maters with and a tool like an upside down cross made from 2x2s to plant taters with. Even with that little bit of ground it would bring in a few hundred dollars a year. Enough to get seeds, plants, and canning supplies plus a little left over to boot.

Got home from Blanchard auction about 45 minutes ago. The auction ended about 1:15 - eggs, feeders and cages sold for the first couple of hours and THEN they started on baby chicks, hamsters, colorful cage birds, the sugar gliders - then went back to selling eggs and baby chicks. It was after 10:00 before any chickens older than a few days old started selling.
Carla was right about the rabbits - ironically, many were small and will likely end up as food for reptiles at the price they brought.

I was shocked at the price Americauna hens brought this evening. I took 4 Americauna hens, two sold for about $22 each and one sold for $52.50! I wish I had been putting all my americauna eggs into the incubator instead of eating them, since prior to giving 4 away to a friend and selling 4 today, I had about 17 Americauna hens running with three nice aracauna roosters.

I kept two pretty Americauna roosters and want to put all the hens and roosters into the same pen - then start hatching EE eggs.

Good morning all. WOW that sale lasted to long for me. I would have liked to have gotten more bantam eggs but I am scared now that I dont have the room for what I do have now. Oh I am sure I can finagle it. I did want to get some bantam chicks but I was not waiting around any longer, I cant drive in the dark. Well maybe you got some good deals Carla and have some bantams I might want and if you want to sell holler at me.

Got home last night to 2 bantam cochins 1 hatched out and the other zipping. These are the eggs and only thing I bought at Cement auction. If what the eggs say are right, they will be blue black and mottled. These are Lynn's babies and he said, oh yea now I need to build them a special Ft Knox pen.

Oh Carla forgot to tell you, Lynn's aunt wants me to come over this weekend and pick up the eggs, she wants me to incubate them and then go from there, she said they are Blue Shoulder. I tried to look them up but only came up with Black Shoulder and some other kind of Blue. If and I do mean IF I decide to raise Peafowl their pen will be a ways away from the house. Anyway i think we are going by there today and see how many eggs she has.

WOW P&B 52.50 for a hen.................good for you.

Oh yea Lynn was not real happy I came home with chicks, but he got over it real fast. And he said he the poults WILL NOT free range they will be kept in a pen. He is still upset about the bobcat taking our hen and then the tom running off with the wild turkeys.

Wow them keets are tiny. I havd forgotten how little they were.

Question, how long will it take the turkey chicks to mature. These are spring/summer chicks will they be laying by next spring.
