Thats not unusual for shipped eggs. Its really frustrating though isnt it sigh. I go visit my family in Columbus pretty often so if your still looking next time i go i'll bring you some chicks and/or eggs if youd like.

Im looking for some standard sized cochins too. But im only looking for partridge. I love the way they are colored! If i dont find any by fall i'll give up and orders some from ideal but id really rather buy locally. And if anyone has some australorps they are also on my wish list!

Heh..spoken like a true chicken addict lol!

I have some standard blue cochins I can ship you some eggs out as soon as the girls realize that the move to their more private digs is OK. Let me know if your interested and we can work the details out. Have really good hatch rate on eggs I ship. Here are a few pic of chicks I hatched a few from a broody and mom and dad. The hatched chicks were born starting on Janurary 29 and I just started getting eggs from them last week but these are in with a mixed roo right now, but will have pure after older breeders start to lay again. Daddy will be the blue in the picture. Edited to add a picture of how I ship my eggs.

luvzmybabz - They are BEAUTIFUL!! When they settle in let me know. I would love to have some of your babies, but I am paranoid about trying another hatch after never getting squat out of 36 eggs.

summerwindsfarms - do you have standard cochins also? Or are you just looking for partridge?
I do have 1 black roo and 1 black hen, 1 did have 2 more hens but the neighbors dog took them out.

I do have bantam cochins in black, birchen, white, buff and pencil. I have gotten 13 babies from them this spring and they are doing well. My son is really excited about taking them to the fair I think he will do extremely well with some of the adult birds.

Yes we have hauled birds quite some distance. We went to the big swap in Missouri (Jacob's Cave) for the first time in October. We drove my little Suzuki Aerio and took no cages, because we didn't know what to expect and I didn't seriously think we would buy anything. WWWEEEELLLLL....... I found standard 5 cochins and fell in LOVE!! Yes we bought them, so now I need a cage for 5 full grown standard cochins, 2 bantam cochins and 2 bantam black rosecombs ( yes I went crazy). Well I found one hat would fit all my precious babies and SHOULD fit in the trunk for the 4 hour ride home. We load all the birds in their cage and carry them to the car. My trunk is HUGE but the cage I bought but this one will NOT fit in no matter how we tried. So in the back seat they go, I tried putting my 10 yr old son in the trunk but his dad didn't go for that.

The cage took up all but about 8-10 inches of the back seat, so I squeezed the kid in next to my new babies and shut the door on his bum and headed toward Miami town. At Lebonnan we tradeed placed and I snuggled up next to them(and ON top of them ) and snoozed all the way home.

When we went in June we planned MUCH better and took cages that would fit in the trunk, But to my disappointment NO standard cochins.

Thursday night is a livestock auction in Maud ... anyone going? Gerald and I intend to go.

I need to sell young roosters for sure! I've decided to sell all my golden phoenix too, but won't have time to take them to the auction. They originally came from Privett Hatchery, and are 3-4 months old, mostly pullets I think. It'll take me a while to catch them out of the greenhouse pen, but there's probably around 10 of them, I think.

Well, Well, Welcome to luvs2garden2000 and engiekisses. I added you to the list so we have just rocketed past 100.
luvs2 are you interested in any chicks out of a brown egg laying flock? They are crosses and straight run but all out of brown layers. A friend has a bunch and is gonna being hatching out many more soon. To offset his expected chick glut, he is selling them for $1 each.
Ensign are you a Sandite or a Tulsan? I put you down from Tulsa.
We have a lot of members here but its not like we have a hundred trying to talk at once.
