I know what you mean, I do alot of reading up on what to do and not to do and learn something new every day. Chickens.............gotta love em. I have a fav to, her name is Gabby..............she is always talking. ANd she has decided to find new places to lay EVERY DAY.

Howdy Folks! Got all sorts of hatching going on here! Can't wait for tomorrow! Anyone gonna have any silkies? Looks like my two sources aren't gonna be there

Be on the look out for another Okie...SHildalgo...buddy of mine here. He has pheasants now...give him some time. We will get him some chickens.

Having a ball! Dreading class..stupid 5 hours of eye poking boredom. My books haven't come in...I am not ready...tried to get the teach to tell me the books several weeks ago because the page thingy wasn't working for me...

As Henny says...maybe I need some chicken therapy!

how are things for you?

still waiting on TJ''s Nana to call...guess they are running late- hope they didn't forget my phone number- does anyone have their phone? its pretty cool here today, sides are going up in the coop, the girls are watching it from the window..

Sooner--That was me Donna (luvs2bmemaw2) at Chupps. I didn't post that I would be there because we decided to go at the last minute. If you saw me at the burger stand then you probably saw me with 2 little girls. They were my 2 and 3 year old grandaughters. I didn't think that I wanted to brave it with them as we are potty training the 2 year old. But I couldn't stand it, had to go.

I don't know for sure which one you are. If I saw a pic I'm sure I would recognize you. Thank you so much for helping me with my chick problem. I've been seeing that others are having the same problem with them dying. My husband found 7 dead yesterday in a pile just as if they just fell over... on top of the waterer and feeder. How dumb is that? LOL

Anyway, I would love to see you all. I read the pages and see where they are going to meet up at the city and I am so jealous. I am going to Falls Creek next week...trying to prepare for that...will be my 23 year to go...love that place.

Gotta go check on my girls. I think they are jumping off of the couch.

Donna

I didn't see anyone else answer last night, if they did, sorry for the repeat. A New Hampshire Red over a SL Wyandotte for the queen. My wife has some Red Star hens and they are the best layers she has. They lay huge, almost purple-brown eggs (see avatar) and are smaller hens. They say that they have a better feed to egg production ratio too.

The California White (CA Grey over Leghorn) can be feather sexed and lay white eggs. Do you like white eggs Stimpy?

I want to go to Steph's neighbor's and the Maud auction.

Wasn't that during the time that Lynn was in the hospital with his snake bite? If so, that would have been the week before the Blanchard auction I attended on May 23 - which should have them hatching out this week or weekend if I can count on the calendar. Of course, I tend to be "calendar challenged" and have to look at a year at a time calendar or I get lost in the count when I turn the page for the next month

You are correct, they should start hatching today thru the weekend at the latest.

That is so cool. How are you keeping them separated from the rest of the hatchlings? Let me know as soon as they start pipping. How many of the 12 were viable?

They are in my brower all by their lonesome. I only candled 4 at 10 days. 3 of the 4 looked like possible growth. Nothing yet. Still waiting.

OK Stimpy, if it's not prying too much, just what are these eggs. I remember you setting this up with Tina last month and with Teach so interested and all, I've just gotta know.

How are you doing today, btw.

Teach-what kind of quail would you have eggs for in the fall? I'll let step-dad know. Keep smiling for your 5 hr torture sessio...I mean class.

I'm sure I can find homes for them. Besides, the ugly little creatures are starting to grow on me. I can't believe I just typed that. If you guys need them later, they'll probably still be here.
