Night Matt Please come back tomorrow. I hope we haven't scared you away.

Matt, if you come to POOPS, I'm sure a few of us here could load you up with some free roosters

According to the American Poultry Association American Standard of Perfection 2001:

Ameraucanas (beards and muffs are full, well-rounded, medium length forming 3 separate lobes) should have slate colored legs and the bottom of the feet and toes should be white.

Araucanas - (rumpless, ear tufts extending from ears in a well-defined curling ringlet) - legs are Willow

Another book, written by Cathy Brunson, which is only about Araucanas, says that legs don't develop their full willow color until the bird is older. A dark legged chick will look bruised around the hock, ankle, and toe joints. This color will deepen and spread as the chick matures.

So, are you wanting to show them or do you just want cute fuzzy faced birds that lay blue to green eggs?

bigokie: those are some cute fuzzybutts. What kind are they?

I ended up losing one over night. It was the last one to hatcha nad had a severe case of wry neck. It was about like the first only it didn't straightened out as it dried. The first baby with wry neck is just fine now. I can't even pick it out of the masses. I guess I need to move the brooder box today. I have it sitting on top of my ferret cage because it is near the bators. The ferrets have decided that they want to see whats going on. They are scratching to get out and I'd rather them not be curious about the babies.

carla: most of the color was disguised when she got on the bus this morning. I think her pictures will turn out fine. I had gotten it lightened well enough that a ponytail pulled to the side covered it. Although it did make her scar pretty obvious. (She had stitches in the side of her head this summer.) But it won't show in the picture, it is behind the ponytail. Thank you for all your help and support.

Nice chicks BigOkie!!

I candled some of my eggs this morning, most of them have spots which I've read indicated bacterial infection but on the other hand they appear to be developing so I guess it's a wait & see kinda thing.

I'm going to finish my coop run today. Was checking Atwoods here in Claremore for chicken wire, all of their 60" wide rolls are coated, is coated wire OK? I suppose it is, but at $150 a roll I wanna be sure.

Hi everyone as you know the fall P.O.O.P.S will be Sept. 26th. It has been decided that we would have a Pot luck lunch & dinner! We are looking for foods that are just as good cold as they are hot.

We will have limited outlets for crock pots if that is something you might be interested in. We will also have limited space to keep things cool between lunch and dinner, so if you bring something that needs to be kept cool make arrangements for that. For some folks that travel you could possibly have your ingredients made and put them together on site. Keep in mind the number of people that will be attending when making your dish or dishes.

We will also need paper goods, silverware & drinks. I have a couple of large igloo coolers that can be used for tea & kool-aid. If you have an one we could use let me know. I will need volunteers for set up before each meal along with volunteers for clean up after.

Please contact (PM) myself or TJ’s Nana if you have any questions or if you need a suggestion as to what you can bring. I will keep a running list of items.

Volunteer’s to help set up & clean up (will set times later
