Well, I guess this was one of those "If I had only known moments."

I was talking to a man about POOPS and another guy came by with a crate full of pigeons and the guy I was talking to bought them from him. I don't know what he gave but it couldn't have been much.

I guess there were around 40 of them or so. Anyway he started selling them for $5 each and they were all gone in about 20 minutes.
They were big, fat and young. I don't think the folks buying them were gonna keep them as pets.

Anyway I didn't know what kind of pens they needed, if they had to have a place to fly in and out of, or if I needed statues for them to uh? _ _ _ roost on!
My son has been wanting pigeons but I told hom not until I knew more about them.
I am glad he wasn't with me this morn or I probably would have bought some.

Edited to add.
Sorry, I forgot to thank you for the info.
Thanks I know lots more than I did a little bit ago.

Yep, they sure do. I'm gonna fry some whole catfish yearlings, and slow cook some grits, just for the special occassion. If there were such a thing as fresh raw oysters here, I would be shucking right now.

Beans, Beans, Beans, etc. etc. etc.

We have mountain oysters here. They are a little harder to come by.

BOOMER SOONER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I like Tide, it gets the grass stains out of the Sooner football uniforms really well.

Actually, I think that guineas are not as susceptible to the poultry diseases of other birds. When we were doing my NPIP testing one year, the Dept of Ag tester made the comment that in all the years she had been testing, she had not seen a guinea test positive for pullorum, even within flocks that had pullorum positive chickens. I have had guineas for about 6 years and have never had to treat one for a respiratory infection, even though they run with the turkeys and chickens and some of them have needed medication from time to time. Personally, I would not be concerned about a guinea bringing in something that would make your other poultry ill.

Guineas are very social critters. They tend to attract other guineas so you may end up with more if this one stays. On the other side, it is important when you acquire new guineas on purpose - to keep them confined for about 6 weeks so they know where to call home and don't go wandering the neighborhood in response to a call from another flock of guineas.

Looks like it is cool enough to go outside. I took a nap when the OSU game started and it was in the 3rd quarter when I woke up. OSU is now beginning the 4th quarter, ahead in the score, so I will stop talking to myself on here and go do something useful - outside.
