The hatch seems to be going well so far they have been incubating for 7 days, I hope the hatch rates will be good this time as well. My rates have averaged about 85-87 % this year.

Hola Peeps

Getting ready to load up chickens for Cement. Mikey bought me a landing net. Thank God. Probably woulda killed myself trying to catch them all. Visited mom.... she is her usual self....everything seems to be the usual....Is it supposed to rain?

Henny still thinking on your issue with the birds. Does the coop have vents up high in it? Could moisture be building up inside at night and chilling the birds?

My healthiest birds are actually my yard ornaments. They roost in the tree out front, scrounge for food and are exposed to all types of weather. I only supply feed in the winter when there is little to be found naturally.

Robin, the silkie portraits are wonderful! I'm a silkie lover and also an artist, but I haven't anything right now that I could donate.

I'm still hoping to make it to POOPS, but won't know until almost the last minute.

Nice! Same weekends as Blanchard, and just a bit closer drive for me according to Google Maps.

So, let's see... Cement or Fletcher, Blanchard or Alex. A veritable plethora of auctions all within a stone's throw. How to choose??? The only Saturday where there isn't a conflict is on the 3rd.

Wife and I may have to split them up just to cover them all!

I had a big problem with atanding water in my runs after a rain. There were a few depressions that held water for a few days. It was a muddy, slick mess, and smelled bad as well. There is a dirt road 1/4 mile from me. The county hauled in some sand mixed with crushed stone, to overlay the road. When the grader bladed it, there was plenty of loose material. So, I got some, and filled in my low spots, and covered my run with 2 to 3" of the material. There's lots of crushed stone gravel, and the chickens seem to have no problem. This last rain was huge, and for the first time, I had no standing water, I didn't slip and slide or get my feet muddy, and it doesn't smell like a wet goat, that has been wallering in skunk dung
