I noticed the "POOPS" wish list, and thought it was a good idea. Then, I thought maybe some of us could list the items we plan on bringing.

So, I'll start...... I'm bringing;

2 pairs of German Spitzhauben

2 trios of Silver Laced Wyandottes

3 pairs of Creole OEG (Bantams)

1 pair of Black Rose Comb (bantams)

1 pair of Silver Duck Wings

1 pair of Blue Wheaton (bantams)

1 pair of Brown Red OEG (bantams)

And maybe more, I'm not sure yet.

I hope to meet some Okie BYCers there.

Roll Tide!!!

Alright Monty, you talked me into it, I'll make a post.

Good thinking. Especially the cage part.

He loaned me a cage, but it wouldn't fit in the back of my Honda, so I ended up driving home with 6 loose chickens in the back seat of my car. My, you should have seen the looks we got in the parking lot of that mini-mart we stopped at.

Maybe you could get some of those large onion bags that they use at the flea market to put chickens in and keep them in the trunk of the car. That way, you would never be at a loss for "containment" for your fowl.

That said, I bought two pairs of grown turkeys from Carla and Gerald the one time I went to Cement - and had to borrow the cage they had come to the auction in to get them home, because I hadn't brought any cages that large to the auction.

If anyone is interested in some turkeys, be sure to bring large cages! I am going to take a couple of Naragansett toms to sell at POOPS - both before the auction and at least one in the auction to raise money for POOPS expenses. But you will need a large cage to take them home - unless you do like I did one time and put a t-shirt over the bird to confine the wings, a piece of newspaper on your lap to confine the poo, and hold the bird all the way home while someone else is driving. They are calmest if you let them curl their toes around your fingers so they can feel like they are on a roost.

OH OH OH OH.....I would LOVE a tom and the chicks... Dang Birthday....

P&Bs I could see me doing that.....I took Maggie home from POOPS on a towel. The whole car smelled like chicken...Mikey was thrilled.

Dang I woulda loved to have had some of Gerald's cucumbers. I have been on a cucumber jag this summer...running around eating them like bananas...Mike asked if I was pregnant...

Sorry Gerald. We had an hour and a half drive back and Mike was itching to get outta there. I think he was afraid I was gonna buy something. Tried to get Carla's silky eggs....and I loved those silkies Carla bought. I sold all my roos...Thanks goodness. 22 roos... no more hatching or straight run. HAHAHAH!

Got to meet Buster! Ya gotta love a guy who rides home with chickens in the back seat!

Thanks for the cages Big Al and for the laughs. As usual you were the bright spot in the whole deal. Congrats on those white rocks. That is some roo.

Sorry I missed the rest of ya....was stressed about the sale...I stress about everything.....lol.....

morning folks!

Auctions with birds that just ain't fair!

To stop waters from freezing I put a heater in the coop...works good unless we go into the single digits...that and I put the front back on the coop and shut the door
big_smile.png
looks silly durning the summer...I take the front panels off and just prop the door open

We wrapped a heat tape around our metal waterer. If you have power at you coop or get a heated waterer they are not cheap, we were just trying to save $ so tried the heat tape. It works pretty good unless it stays below freezing all day long. I also have an extra so I can switch them out. That works pretty good.

Happy Sunday Everyone. Gonna be warmer here today.
