So.... I just got back from the Newcastle show, and I had a blast! Got to meet up with Chicken_Fairy, Stimpy, and of course Cammie (countyraod1330)

Best'est' of all, I entered 8 birds, and got 8 first place ribbons! Plus, I got a 1st in showmanship... yay me! lol

We just left the Cement auction, and amazingly only bought one thing, a rabbit hutch that we'll probably use for some of our silkies or chicks. Oh, and we traded for some buff dundotte guineas outside of the auction! We sold roosters, a turkey and some young birds and best of all we got to visit with lots of BYC Okies while we were there! Now we have to decide which auction we're going to next Saturday. We are seriously contemplating splitting up and going to both. I don't know if I can trust Gerald alone though, lol. I'm afraid he'll bring home a truckload of chickens when we're trying to downsize.

I sure am tempted to go to the Jones auction and meet with some BYC Okies at that Roosters Cafe that Monty mentioned.

Grace, Congratulations on winning at the Newcastle Show! That is AWESOME!

Luvs, sorry I didn't get a chance to meet up with you! I did get to meet, and talk to, your friend though! And, I temptingly looked over the birds she brought to sell.

Thanks so much

One of them was that Spitz pullet from the eggs you brought me at Blue!
Buff dundotte guineas... sound pretty; what do they look like?

Buff dundotte guineas are really pretty tannish beige with pearl dotting. I may not be describing them correctly. I've never actually done any research on guineas to see if they are a real color variety, but they seem to be more expensive to buy at the auctions than the usual varieties. I just thought it would be neat to have another color variety that's out of the ordinary. I like a lot of odd critters!

Grace, that is so cool that the Spitzhauben won a ribbon too!

Grace,
It was great meeting you today, and congrats on your wins. It was a really good show and I had a lot of fun showing my grandson around. That was his first poultry show. I think he's hooked. He studied those White Rocks on display there, and spent the whole trip home telling me what's wrong with mine.

I bought a trio of White Calls from Janice Hall and I left early to get them home and settled in before dark.

I'm sure we'll run into each other again at another show. I can't wait to see what you bring next time.

Grace, congratulations on all the wins! I'm so glad I got to see you today! I'm sorry we didn't stay long. We were up until almost 3:00 am moving cattle last night, Clark was really tired. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed on the Shawnee show. So is my mom, she really enjoyed it last year.

Here's a (not so good) picture of my ONLY two chickens!

Hey Guys... How's everyone? well we went to Cement and had our usual blast. Hubby said no birds this time...

. But we had a great time seeing what everyone else had. That big cage of runner ducks was hilarious! Sullied the evening by hitting a racoon on the way home... darn it. Practically piled up my pickup trying to miss him... But all in all a great time was had by all. Where is the Jones auction? Far and away? Might try that chicken fried steak... okies really know how to do that up right. See y'all.

Cammie, thanks

Great seeing you and hubby and sis! So, I guess you've figured it out, but I just have to let you know that I got 1st in showmanship, and it was with the MF d'Uccle you 'raised for me'!

Wow, you got to bed an hour before I got up! lol
Precious chicks; I'm sure they're personalities are cuter than can be! *ha*

Stimpy, my prediction is your grandson will become the great poultry judge of his generation! lol

Oh, I am so excited for you! From what I saw, I thought you didn't buy any. But, wow, a whole trio of call ducks! That's enough to get you off to a great start in the showing world! Did I tell you that I got my calls from Janice too?! I absolutely love them

Thanks

Carla, oh, they sound gorgeous! Buff (and blue) are my two all-time favorite colors in poultry

Yes, Spitzy -as I call her- is such a pretty girl!

Man, see what I miss when I go away for a day.
I'll have to catch up more later, but Congratulations to Grace and her sweep at Newcastle.
As for Jones and meeting at Roosters I didn't necessarily mean this week with OU/Texas and all but maybe one day down the line.
Carla, Buff Dundotte Guineas are my favorites. I don't have guineas any more but if I did that would be the flavor I would want.
Hennypennies, Don't fret about hitting a raccoon. He was probably on his way to raid someone's chicken pen.
