Well that is a serious spike or at least I used to think so. My broodies hatched eggs this summer with daytime temps here that were 110 plus. Instead of settling on the eggs they stood above them all day.

I am so sorry for your loss Grace! My prayers are with you...what an awful shock!
I am still having bad dreams about a few of our chickens being picked off by coyotes last week--and I didn't even see the bodies! I am just sick about it...and it was our best laying hen and some very nice pullets that were at the point of lay...so sad...
I am glad to be able to "be" with people who also feel so connected with their chickens to be so affected by the events that happen to them...when I talked about my chickens being killed when I was at work, my coworkers gave me rather blank stares...they just don't understand!

Well, the spike couldn't have lasted more than an hour or two, max. I've heard around the incubation part of the forum that while it could have done in a few, I most likely didn't lose the whole batch.
Strangely enough... it's holding temperature again. I'm at a loss. I'm going to mosey on over to the incubation section and ask if anybody else has had this happen with the homemade 'bator.
Watching Jay Leno, he said in New Jersey they are having alot of wild turkey attacks. They said they have no idea when it will end; Jay said 'Uh, I'm guessing around Thanksgiving. Hello?'
Ooh ooh, scary info I got yesterday. Someone in Rush Springs, which is a little ways south of me, made a report with the county of seeing a bear! No body believes them, but I saw in this year's Oklahoma hunting guide that our state now has a bear season.
From that you'll find that it's 4 foot x 4 foot, 5 foot tall in front and 4 foot tall in back. You'll also see some photos of it being built, season to taste (make changes where wanted).

I have a good pic of a grandson of our original Malay and a not so good, distant pic, of the original Malay that I would like to have facing each other. The photos are of opposites sides of the two birds. Ya game?
