I just love watching the chicks hatch. I have had to restrain myself from firing up the incubator but I think I will this next week.

Do you have the Law Grays? If so, I would be interested in some eggs. I use to have some when I was a kid.

Mallen.........I love waking up to that noise ! Did you ever think, growing up , that you would be washing babie chicks?

Hi, I have the Law Gray eggs in the incubator, 12 of them, due to hatch on Nov. 6th. So I should have eggs available about mid summer if all goes well. If things don't go well with this hatch I'll just order more eggs, I really like the Law bloodline, they are more of a Golden Duckwing color than most others and for sure one of the gamest lines around.

Actually, I grew up with game chickens so I'm kinda used to messing with them. Our yard looked like a chemical production facility with all the plastic barrels we had out there for the roosters, lol. Of course back then we didn't use incubators, so washing chicks off is new and I never thought I'd be doing any of that. Back in my younger days getting close enough to game chicks to pick them up meant getting flogged by an angry game hen and when they come after you they are all business, lol, and usually they bring a rooster to help!!

Oh my Mallen...... I did work at the Los Angeles animal shelter for years when young.....that was my first experience with chickens outside of a frozen package

the initiation for workers was to go feed and water the fighting cocks we had, they did NOT

explain to us how mean they were

I got flogged good.........at least we had thick boots on......they also got me to go INTO the hog pen, first and ONLY time I did that......ended up barely getting out alive...boy they sure had fun with me

Well, dang. That's awful. And it just changes the whole atmosphere of the place for me. We've left stuff in the back our truck time after time visiting Blanchard and had come to the point where we just felt so secure there with our things. Now theft will always be in the back of my mind.

I know it is unrealistic, but I have come to have higher standards for rural Oklahoma folks than I have had in other areas. It just takes one bad experience to ruin it for everyone.

Sorry to hear about the loss, Teach. It was nice visiting with you. You are as funny in person as you are online.

Carla, it was great seeing you and Gerald there last night. You had hatching eggs there? Good thing I got there late.

Mornin' everybody. Running late on my chores so I'd best get out there!

I never made it to the LA shelter, although I did live and have my business in LA for a lot of years, Maria and I retired about 4 years ago. There is a lot I miss about LA, and a lot that I don't.

5:46 AM??? Dang, Teach! Get some sleep man! See you in a couple of days.

Okay, now my turkeys are all lined up staring at me through the picture window like a bunch of starving orphans, so I really had best get out there to them.
