She got them from a guy at the show. I am sure we will hatch some eggs.....not sure beyond that. Haven't thought that far ahead. They are from the spring hatch so we will guess around 8 months.

Yeah I am up way late for me.....can't stop my mind tonight....gonna try to lay down & get some sleep....

Oh I understand those kind of nights. I just woke up from my nap at 11:30, so I'm going to be up tryin to finish my paper.

At Grady County this year the winning Bantam was a black Cochin roo. I think they are absolutely gorgeous birds.

Hope you get some rest!

Barnswallow - Are ya'll having to remodel, or is this left over from someone else? That is so scary for your son! Prayers that he is well again soon!

What did you use for bait to catch the raccoon?

P&B, thats the best part. I have a galvanized trash can that I keep my feed in. The racoon started prying the lid off and getting inside. So I thought if he wants in so bad. I took the feed sacks out and laid it over on its side and put the trap inside. Didn't even put any bait in it!

I do have to give my wife Debra, credit for the idea though.

Good Morning Okie's!

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. Considering I am up this early that isn't a good sign for me. I hope some of the MIA folks will check in soon. Sure do miss everyone since POOPS.

Teach, so sorry for your loss. Had a very similar situation with my mother in February, so I definitely understand what you're going through. Time and close communication with remaining family helps a lot to ease the pain.

Have you tried rolling one of those long magnets on wheels over the ground? Builders and Roofers use them to clean up nails after they finish a project and we periodically roll one around the area where the hooved animals are, after a good rain has come and gone. Nails seem to float to the surface of the soil after a hard rain and I am amazed we keep finding bits of wire and nails in the same area, after several years of picking them up. We also have a hand held one that we drag along the ground, but it doesn't cover as much area at one time nor is it as strong magnetically, as the one that is 3 foot wide on wheels.

ETA - they are called magnetic sweepers

Barnswallow, the roofers that replaced our roof a couple of months ago had a nifty magnet device they used to suck up the dropped nails. Maybe you could borrow or rent something similar?? It probably wouldn't get all of them, but it might be a big help.
