TJ's Na-Na, the sheriff's office has never ONCE offered to go with me to get my horse. Ever. I have called repeatedly to see if they will simply escort me. If they would have said "Sure, we'll escort you for your safety." Then I would have been there in a heart-beat. I am not trashing your sheriff or your sheriff's office. I am stating the truth.
I have not personally met with the sheriff only several of his deputies and investigators. As for the lease, that was my fault. I did not think to look up criminal records for a person who seemed so nice. You're right, my mistake. It will not happen again.
I have already been to the sheriff's office several times and given two separate reports since apparently the first one was mishandled. I was asked to give a written statement, twice. The person who took my written statement the second time seemed to not know any information about the lease agreement that was handed to the other deputy. It is not my fault that they either did not take care of the report properly, or did not read the information that was given. I have given registration papers, lease agreement copies, photographs, names, addresses, witnesses.
I have done everything I can do within reasonable circumstances. Other agencies are looking in and trying to find out why nothing is being done.
I'm sorry you feel as though I am attacking the sheriff directly, that is not my intent. I am attacking those in the agency who decide that allowing someone to get lost in the cracks is an okay practice, as long as they don't make a huge fuss.
Edit to add: Charges have been filed and a court date set for the criminal charges. Seeing as how their are criminal charges, it should not be an overly ridiculous request to have some sort of escort when I try to retrieve my property. I have asked and been told that they cannot and will not interfere.
