Henny - So sorry that Mike didn't get the job.

But look at it this way, this gives you more time to get everything sorted out for a move! So glad you liked Jake's, and that you got some of the monstrous fries!

City - I was looking at the POOPS list you made, and I wanted to say thanks for picking up on my hubby's name!

Dandelion - Freezable bantams.

wish I'd thought to grease up my birds combs. Hopefully they won't be stupid and just stay in their house til morning.

nnbreeder - I don't typically fall for NNs, but that baby is adorable!!

Anyone want me to hatch some NNs for them???

Do you hand raise cockatiels? What else? I'm a bird fanatic, I want one!

My aunt bought a house today! She seems very excited, finally. I know it will be hard getting moved, but after she's settled in I know she will be good.

So I was readin about this 2012 thing that everyone's been talkin about and got curious... And saw that my calendar ends December 31, 2009! NOOO!!!

I think Meeker used to have a horse auction on Monday nights. Several years ago, I bought a mule at Jones on Thursday night and sold him at the Meeker auction on Monday night. Turned out he had been doped up when he went through the Jones auction and he was plum crazy when he wasn't medicated.

The Meeker horse sales are now the first Sunday of each month. Jones still has their sales every Thursday night. Bristow has horse sales, but I can't remember what night it is - it used to be every other Saturday night, but that was 20 years ago.

Ropo - please don't tell me that that jerk sold your horse! http://www.pic4ever.com/images/129fs3647527.gif

I'm hoping not, but I would not put it past them. Especially since on his (I'm assuming) son's myspace it says "Look what I've already done and just wait on what I'm gonna do."

that poor scrawny thing is alive? It looks like a baby mouse. Definately, a face only a mother could love

Sure is, they are tiny when hatched but grow fast. Here is a couple at a week old and a handfull of about 4 week olds.

Cammie any more it is rare for us to hand raise them, we keep the males and females seperated so they don't, well can't, breed.

That is cool. There is a lot of satisfaction in raising something like that when it starts out so tiny!

Hand feeding a bird makes it part of your flock and they respond very well to humans. Remember even with Cockatiels their beaks are strong and the tip is razor sharp. It will go right through a finger, both Teva and I know. The big parrots can crack a Brazil nut so I don't think a bone in ones hand would be a problem for them.

Teva gets stout leather gloves on when we have a biter that has just been used for breeding. Sits and watches tv and holds the bird, talking to it and stroking it. Usually takes about 30 minutes for it to calm down. Usually they never try to bite again.

A small conure like the green cheeks won't necessarily get enough power to go through a finger, but they sure as heck can make you bleed... and trying not to scream or pull back when a new bird (or a biter) gets you right at the cuticle of the nail can definitely be difficult. My conures are such happy babies. I'm very sad about the fact that I may have to sell them... if I'm going to ever get my degree finished, I'm going to have to take night classes/online classes, and I don't spend enough time with them as it is.

Ah pretty Conures! The one I had bit the tip of my nose, still have a faint triangle scar. Lol
I have always wanted a hand fed baby parrot of any kind.

Guess I'm gonna get to bed a litle early. Night everyone!
