They have the Longhorns bred out real nice these days. I remember when I was little that a good looking Longhorn looked like it was about to die from starvation. LOL But the stong points of the breed was disease resistance and the ability to survive. I think you could fence in a parking lot and they would gain weight out there. Perfect for the poor soils of the Southern Plains.

It's strange but a calf with a black hide sells better. Used to be all that was seen around here was Herefords. Have you ever been to Express Ranches up in Yukon? We go to see the horses there fairly often. They have one of the few hitches of black Clydesdales in the world. I wouldn't mind living in the quarters where they keep the horses!

Evening everyone. Just an interesting note, in a recent study range grass fed beef is higher in omega-3 than salmon. County, you should try rice milk or horchata, which is rice milk will a little cinnamon and sugar. Kind of like liquid rice pudding, not bad ice cold.

After the craptastic news the second job gave me today, she had the gall to ask if I'd work the 4 hour madness sale Thanksgiving evening. I said "No, I'll be in Edmond, you'll have to find someone else".

Sure made me feel better. J and I will be going out on Saturday to buy the wood for another coop... guess I'd better get those built before I don't have a second paycheck anymore.

I am back...after laying there watching TV and listening to my wife not snore

well...I am awake...

about the only reason the US doesn't do more grass fed beef is cuz the common public freaks if the fat isn't white...joe Consumer sees that yellow fat and they freak! Silly people...if I ever get in the country with enough acerage...I plan on buying little cows and keeping a little longhorn bull...but I am gonna saw the horns off the dude!!! Aggie joke!!! Anyways...I want the hides and heads...cuz they are worth more than the beef!

Les - you really want to see cool stables go check out a throughbred racing place...them dudes live way nicer than me...and I have a double wide!!!

HAHA! What's the "craptastic" news? I like that saying...it shall be my new slogan at Wal-Mart.

Sorry for the bad work stuff RoPo and faeries. With the economy the way it is right now I think companies feel like they can always find someone to do the job and you should just feel lucky you still have one. Well

yo them. Hey Teach. I'm with you on raising some beef but I can't afford the water to grow the grass in this sand or the hay so I just barter with chickens to someone with grass.

Well, I am supposed to work 3 evenings a week and Sunday. Since the hours are extending, I will no longer be able to close. Instead of allowing me to do what all the other cashiers are allowed to do (work until a half hour before close, then go home), she has decided that I can only be scheduled for the weekend. Which for me would only be Sunday, since I refuse to work Saturdays. So basically, in a week, it'll come down to either she'll back down or I'll be down to 1 job.

Anyone use Lumber 2? Thinking about making an order for their load 'n go services and having J pick it up so that I don't have to muddle through the Saturday masses to get chicken feed

Well I'm back from our grocery shopping attempt. Its stressful, everything has something I can't eat, I was almost in tears. Clark said we'd go again after we do some research and I'm not so tired.

I got some Soy Milk, and it is good! It kind of reminds me of watered down egg nog or something. Picked up some Tofu too, can't decide what to do with it. It tastes like vegetables, but has the texture of a soft cheese, so that works out. (I'm a cheese fanatic, I even love Blue cheese just straight!) Don't know what to do about packing a lunch that I can eat in the car, though. Was doin sandwhiches, but the doc said absolutely NO dairy, so no cheese on the sandwhich.

Hope everyone gets their holiday work woes figured out! I am thankful that I don't have to worry about that this year.

Thanks to everybody for all the great help! Don't know what I'd do without my chicken family!

We will drive down Friday after school. I don't know why they don't let school out all week. Jared is out three days but the two days he is there they won't be doing much school work. Just having parties and doing Thanksgiving stuff.

In SE Oklahoma, many schools ARE out all week because there are so many kids deer hunting.
